Fantasmic Dessert Buffet Question?

Is the priority seating/fantasmic dessert buffet worth the money? What kind of desserts do they have out? If you decide not to do the priority seating, are areas where a 6 year old can see everything hard to come by? I'm torn on what to do. It's a lot of money for a show that's under 30 minutes long but after standing and walking all day it would be nice to have a guaranteed seat. Plus my sons has never seen Fantasmic at Disneyland only Disneyworld so I want to make sure he can see it.

Whether or not it is worth it is sort of in the eye of the beholder. I've done the dessert seating several times, because I am unwilling to fight the hordes of humanity to get a spot. So if I don't pay for the seating, I don't see Fantasmic. As for the dessert, you get a box that contains cheese and crackers, grapes, a couple of chocolate truffles(white and dark) and then usually a little cheesecake, a lemon item and a little chocolate cake and a cookie. It's a lot of food. We usually snack on it and then take it back to the room (cheesecake is the breakfast of champions!)

A couple of things to note though. If you want a front row seat with no one in front of you, you have to line up at the podium by the churro cart in front of the rivers of America(near HM and the ferry boats to TSI:PL) and you need to line up around 6 or 6:15 pm but they won't check you in until 8:00 pm. There are only about 12 seats that are in the front row, where the only obstruction is the wrought iron fence. If you don't care about being in that front row, you can show up around 7 or 7:30 and you should be ok.

Overall, I think it's wonderful and will likely do it again when Murphy the dragon is up and running, but it is not a perfect set-up and there is waiting involved (there are no seats to sit in during that 6:15 to 8 pm wait.) I just usually send DH off to ride some rides I don't like (Indy) while I wait and read or play with my Nintendo DS.

Have a magical trip, whatever you do,

I thought it was worth it when I went last week! Especially if you have small children. In the public viewing area it can get PACKED. In the preferred seating there is personal space and a very friendly atmostphere. The dessert box is not only huge but very rich. And very good! As pp said, there will be leftovers! Unless you are my boyfriend who ate it all before the show even started.... and felt very sick...:lmao:

I would recomend getting in line early so that you may have a front row view because of your child, otherwise I sat in the second row and could see just fine. The CMs are very helpful and friendly! I found the experience to be very fun and relaxing.

I agree, it is a lot of money. But as I said, it was definitely worth it to me!

That is exactly why I just spent the money for the dessert buffet. I have never seen a parade at WDW or DL, nor Fantasmic for that very reason - I will not take the time out of my minimal time at the parks sitting and waiting hours for a parade or show.

For me it is worth it just to know I can walk up at 8:00 PM and get a seat.

I have done the Fantasmic! Premium Seating on June 12, 2009 9:00 pm show during the first night of Fantasmic! Summer Nightastic. It was really crazy that first night of Fantasmic! to see all the new upgrades. It was worth even though the dragon wasn't ready for opening night.

If you don't do the premium seating, the best viewing area is in front railings of the ROA. You have to get there very early just to get a good spot.

It is worth every penny to watch Fantasmic! and have the nice dessert box. It would be nice to have the balcony seating for Fantasmic!. But its still a great experience to watch the show from the premium seating.

Thanks for all the feedback!!! Dh who isn't a disney fanatic at all and said he's probably not even going to go on Saturday with us, he's just going to do his own thing, so since it will only be DS and I I think we'll give it a try. Hopefully we can get reservations :)

Wow, that dessert box has changed since we went to see the show in 2007 - it looks great - thanks for posting the picture! :thumbsup2

We are visiting Disneyland again next July, and really want to book the Fantasmic Show once again, it was great last time, we weren't on the front row but could see just fine, we're a tall family though, so would definitely advise trying to get the front with small children and it's just normal chairs, not tiered seating.

Can't wait to do it again - it even had DH in tears by the end of it! :rotfl:

I just usually send DH off to ride some rides I don't like (Indy) while I wait and read or play with my Nintendo DS.

I bring along my DS too, we're pretty good about showing up an hour early for most of the big shows, so the DS helps.

I'm going in October with my friend, mentioned the Dessert seating to her and she is very interested in doing it. I'm close to refusing because I don't want to spend the money if the Dragon will be a no show, the show is so disappointing for me without the Dragon :headache:.

We are doing the seating in a few weeks, and I had a dream about it last night. I dreamed I got there really early. Like right after lunch - LOL - and they showed me where our seats were and they were directly behind a massive redwood tree. Talk about obstructed seating. I need to lay off the Pinot at 11pm. It gives me nightmares apparently! :)

can anyone tell me how much it is, and if you can get dairy/gluten free desserts? oh, and how far out to do you have to book it?

thanks!

Totally worth to pay extra for the reserved seating...

I asked the same thing on a different thread and was told they do, but they don't grab back the dessert box :)

is the kids dessert the same or is it more kid friendly. Seems very rich for little tummies.
