I had been watching for an opening for this on the night we are planning on doing the DAH event, and this morning there is availability. However, there are 2 times - 8:00 and 8:20. I had never read about there being 2 times, and the other day we did book it for (but are thinking of changing) only had one option (I can't remember which time it was). Is this like DHS EMM, where it makes no difference which time you book, or is there a reason or benefit to choosing one time over the other? I tried a quick search but didn't see anything about different times, just discussion of the event.

No difference.
I'd arrive 45 min. before the posted show time, regardless, for best choice in seating.

It was this way when I did it last year. I think it's just their way of trying to even out the flow of people going through the dessert/drink pickup line before you're seated. You can arrive anytime in that window and you're good.

Thanks, I was hoping/figuring this was the case, but wanted to make sure!

If we arrive more like 20-30 min before the show will our seats be notably worse or will we risk not being able to sit together or just not having enough time to get our stuff, sit, and enjoy the event? It’s not that we can’t go earlier, it’s just we aren’t into sitting and waiting (this thus the reserved seat dessert experience) so I’m just debating all options. We don’t have to have the best of the best seats, if waiting will let us still get great ones.

I’m also still debating doing this on a DAH night, since it goes against my usual methods to do this instead of being able to maximize riding during the event. But if we do it this way we can watch he Star Wars show another night, instead of Skipping it this year, and my kids and DH really like it, so... decisions, decisions....

You will likely be just fine.

(But, there is always a risk involved when it comes to unexpected crowds.)

At WDW, if seeing a particular performance is IMPORTANT to you, it is better to arrive far too early than to arrive one minute too late.
