Fantasmic and Mama Melrose

Sooooo, the only ADR we could get was for 7:50 and Fantasmic starts at 8:30 is that even possible? Is there a chance to be seated if early if you show before your ADR? Is it possible to see the show if we do not have a meal package? I am still amazed that you can have trouble making a reservation 5 months in advance!

That's only 40 minutes so there's no chance that you could eat and make it to Fantasmic. As far as just showing up earlier, you may get seated, but it depends on how busy the restaurant is. You have 5 months before your trip so keep checking online for a much earlier reservation - I'd recommend no later than 5PM.

Many people don't do the Fantasmic dining package and are able to see the show. Because showings are limited during the off season, people begin lining up anywhere from 1 to 2 hours in advance.

There is no way at Mama Melrose that you could get seated at 7:50 and make it to 8:30 show...first, you'd be lucky to get seated on time...Mama Melrose is slow service and runs behind often. And, like I said, the service is very slow in there...once you're seated, expect at least an hour for your meal, if not longer. If you're wanting to see Fantasmic, either book a dinner package (if any are available) ...or skip the table service meal that night...eat around 6, then get in the Fantasmic line about 75-80 minutes before the show. (People start lining up 2 hours before show...they open the theater around 90 minutes before the show...the first huge line will file in and take seats...you can walk in at the tale-end of that long line if you wait about 15 minutes after they open the theater. There should still be seats at 75-80 minutes.)

Can't tell from your wording, but were you thinking you got a Fantasmic dinner package reservation? Because there is no way your 7:50 reservation at Mama Melrose would be a Fantasmic Dinner package. For an 8:30 show, they would not book Fantasmic Dinners past 5:30 because they want to make sure everyone has time to be seated, eat, settle-up and then walk to the theater in enough time to arrive at the reserved seats around 7:30-7:45 (even with the tickets they advise getting to the theater 45-60 minutes before the show.) The 5:30 reservations would be long gone at this point...people take the latest they can get right away at 180 days out. If there were any dinner packages left, they would probably be either late lunch seatings (like 1:30 or 2:00) or very early dinner seatings (like 3:30)

Yes, we called this morning and it was only for dinner, not Fantasmic. So we can try to snag a cancellation before out trip. If not, we will have 1 table service left.

I've been trying to think of one to do just in case we can't get one. On this day we plan for AK in the morning and early afternoon, with HS for the rest of the day.

The next day we fly home around 9:30.
