Hi!

I know I have read a lot about Fantasmic being scary for young children. I am considering going to watch it this trip, but not sure if I am making the wrong decision. My DS will be 3.5 at the time of the trip. He is not afraid of the dark...and I have yet to see him afraid of anything. He hasn't really watched horror films or anything...but in general he is a pretty "amazed with things" kid. I think that he will be more "wow...look at that...what is that dragon doing?". Any experiences with your children this age going to the show?

Thanks for your help!

Hi! We went to watch Fantasmic with my DS, 2yr9mo at the time, DNephew, 2yr3mo, and DNiece 5yr3mo. With my DS and DNephew, they did great and yes, were amazed with the dragon, lights, and water. The entire time, I talked to the two boys about how cool different things were, "Wow, did you see that?, "Look there is Mickey Mouse," whenever there was something scary, I kinda tried to distract them. Overall, my DS, did like the show, he has a Malificent dragon that he talks about defeating. He remembers the boat at the end with all of the characters.

Yes, I would bring them again at that age. I did have to pay a little attention to them to make sure that they weren't scared of things or if they were to distract them or tell them that it is only pretend.

Good luck with your decision, but more importantly, Have a great time at Disney!!

My 1 year old fell asleep before the show started

my 3 year old loved every second of it

I have an eight year old who is very sensitive to sound. Would you recommend bringing earplugs for him? Is is very loud?

I took my girls at age almost 3. One of them was a little afraid, but not bad at all (because she had daddy to keep her safe). The other was perfectly happy with it.
Last year at a little over 3 1/2 they both loved it! They said "Mickey saves the day" :)

If your little one is not showing signs of being afraid, then I would definately take him.

As far as noise, I think the Muppets were louder.

There are a lot of threads about F! over on the theme park attractions board. My 7yo hates it, but she is very timid about everything. My 5 yo loves it. The theatre opens 90 before the show starts, and I would recommend getting there at least 45 minutes before the show starts in order to get decent seats. What we like to do is get some dinner and bring it into the theatre to eat while we wait. Yes, that is allowed. However, I don't know how many adults you'll have with you and such. If you are renting a stroller, you will be instructed to empty it before going to your seats, so your hands will be full. If you are using a personal stroller, no worries.

The show itself is very LOUD!! People leave the show nightly because the noise and the effects frighten their little ones. Others are absolutely fascinated by it.

Have a great time.

My 10 & 6 yr old loved it. We were there on a windy night and the people behind us left because the mist was blowing and they were getting damp and the parents thought it was inappropriate. Their kids looked to be in the 6-10 age range and the kids were upset that the parents wanted to leave.

I too read the guide books and threads here about how scary Fantasmic was,I walked in a little open minded as what the guide books had called "scary" rides never came close to upsetting my youngest(who can be kind of wimpy at times, though not anymore he rode Space Mountain 3x on our last trip).

We took DD3 in Dec 06 trip. I bought the Dinner package, so we were 5 rows from the show. DD3 did fine. We got a little wet, which bothered her, but was not afraid of the dragon at all.

She really liked seeing the characters on the boat come by. The stage is far enough away that it did not bother my DD8 & DS6 either.

I would take her.

Just got back and took my 6 and 2.5 year olds. They were both a little scared during the villian part and my 6 year old even said he wanted to leave but they weren't hysterical. They both loved the characters on the floats though. If you can talk them through the villians part you'll be okay, it is a cool show. My kids were also scared in Honey I Shrunk the Audience, Tough to be a Bug and Little Mermaid (Ursala and rainstorm).

Thank you everyone for your advice! I booked a Fantasmic Dinner package...so we'll see how it goes! :goodvibes

Thanks Again!! :)

Our DD wasn't even 2 1/2 yet when we saw it and we just talked to her the entire time asking her who that was...what was that..OOH PRETTY .... and it worked. She use to hate fireworks but I think that being DISNEY ones helped a lot.. LOL
