How many of you remember Fantasia Ice Cream?

Before it went to Burr-bank Ice Cream in California Adventure?

Before it was even on the board at Carnation Plaza?

I used to love it when it was a SECRECT-IN-THE-KNOW thing in Disneyland. Standing in line as others would order their generic ice creams, you would get your turn and asked the castmember for a scoop of Fantasia. I would walk away licking my treasure, making sure to watch the other guests as their jaws hit the ground wondering what that delectable cone of pure Disney goodness was. Used to just love it. :lmao:

...now I'm sad on every visit without it. At least I can soak my sorrows in a Mickey Premium Bar. :sad1:

I think it was the disneyland neopolitan they had on main street. Must of been Gibson Girls. Neopolitan, choc, van, straw was much better.

What was Fantasia Ice Cream?

It was a mix of Banana, Pistachio and Black Cherry (with cherry halves). It was colorful and tasted of true Disney Decadence. Unfortunately the recipe was copywrited by Carnation and then owned by Nestles when they took over Carnation. But when Disney went to Dryers, Nestles would not let them have it.

Now when I want some, I go to Loards Ice Cream and get the three hand-packed. Not exactly the same but it is as close as I will get now.

Did Disney move to Dryers before Nestle bought Dryers?

I don't know.

We thought that Disney may have taken it back to "Hidden Status" you know still serving it but not advertising it. They didn't. We still ask every visit if they have it and many castmembers tell us that a large number of people ask about it and how they wish that they still had it or would bring it back.

I heard some say it was something to do with branding and I know many say it was the low demand. They should just try to remarket it again. They did a Pin promotion for Fantasia Ice Cream just before its demise.

Sorry, Loards is just NorCal.

I would guess low demand wouldn't stop it. With the internet secret things like special flavors, loose secret status quick. Like Animal Style at In and Out. Secret Menu, so what half the restaurant is eating them.

But being only able to serve actual Nestle/Dreyers brands make a lot of sense.

I always though it tasted like a cross between spumoni and burgundy cherry. Or sort of like the fruitcake of ice cream !
