Fanny packs,backpacks and camera's

There are certain words you will not find in a slang dictionary. To put it mildly, and no offence to anybody here, a "fanny" in England is a derogatory term for a ****** (obviously, you can't type that word on the Disboards - it begins with V and ends in A - let's try "female front bottom"). So to insult somebody over here you (and here's being mild again) would call them a "stupid f***y".

Hence, putting things in your fanny pack is met with amusement over here.

..and of course we call them "bum" bags over here, but then again isn't a "bum" a tramp (or is that a vagrant?) in the US?....two english speaking nations separated by a language eh?

A little joke for you:

English lady in the bathroom (rest room):

"The tap's dripping"

American gentleman:

"Faucet"

English lady:

"I am forcing it, but it's still dripping!!". :teeth:
