Fanny packs back in style?

It's disney world! if you don't look like a dork, you are not having fun! I say go for it!

This post makes me smile. My nephew is on a crusade to bring fanny packs back in fashion, and my DS-15 ordered one this summer. His friend also ordered a neon green one and proudly wore it. It may be a slow movement...

I bought the most adorable Mickey Mouse fanny pack at WDW in 1995. It has gone with my on every disney trip since then. I don't use it any other time so it is still in decent shape. I get people coming up to me asking me where they can buy one. Everyone loves it! I don't care if I look like a dork - I wear my fanny pack, my minnie mouse headband, and my lanyard proudly! :rotfl2:

Looking for a clear waterproof fanny pack for my trip in February 2014. And suggestions?

I don't know what possessed me to click the links but did you see the features if the second one? Hidden compartment in the back for credit cards and travel documents? How is it hidden? Lol.

Actually 'hip packs' are back in. Just drop the fanny and you're fine :rotfl2:

Definitely don't call them "fanny packs" in UK or commonwealth nations. There's a good reason they call them "bum bags" (I don't even understand the term here? I've never heard that word not followed by "pack")

Planning a repeat trip with some friends. One of them, much younger than me, said matching shirts are ok but NO FANNY PACK. Now I haven't a clue what to wear!

Personally, I think a fanny pack at Disney World looks about as out of place as a bikini on the beach. Sure, you wouldn't wear either at the mall, but there is a time and place for everything.

I wore one this past trip, and I'm 30. Used it to keep our money, room keys, cigarettes and lighter (yes bad habit I know, lets move on :) ), and DF carried the backpack with the sunblock, water, food, etc.

I just bought this "hip purse" and I love it! If you google, there was a back to school special to buy one get one free. I haven't used it for Disney yet, but did wear it to a local theme park, and a few other events. It's perfect for a few cards, cell phone, lipstick some cash, with room to spare. My DH likes to carry a backpack, so I don't need anything big, but it allows me to keep a few essentials with me in case we get split up.

And I think these are pretty stylish too. I love that you can use the belt with it, or just clip it to your belt loops.

I started a fanny pack thread earlier and everybody agreed as on here, that they are great!

I ordered my husband a camo fanny pack and while he's currently on a hunting trip and will be meeting me at the GF on my second day, I am hoping he doesn't conveniently 'forget' his new fanny pack!

I've been in bed sick ALL WEEK and haven't had time to go buy my own, so not sure what I'm gonna do. Where would one buy a fanny pack if there wasn't time to do it online??

You might end up paying more but I suspect that you might find a *bum bag* anywhere that sells sporting goods. I'd guess that cross country athletes, hikers, scout leaders, etc might use them- probably fancier and sportier than the bag of the 80s. If you want a cheaper, more traditional model, try a thrift store- one near me has a huge bag section- totes, diaper bags, purses, lunch bags... I'm sure that a bum bag or tie is in there- or join freecycle or a local Facebook buy/sell group and see if you luck out.

As far as I am concerned fanny packs were never the height of fashion.
They are very functional, and I love being hands free. I am and have for
The most part always been a small purse person, and I did use a mini baggallini for DTD once and couple of times on a cruise.
Sad day when our family outgrew strollers. That was nice to hold cups
Etc, because as Moms and now Granny we hold it all.
So I am all about traveling light. Fanny pack. No problem for me. I
Recall in the1990 s I believe American Express patrons at disney resort
Check in received. Complimentary fanny pack. Back when. Lol.

So wear it and be comfy.....have fun!

I actually think fanny packs would be great for a nice walk here at home. I carry epi pens for a bee allergy,my phone and this would carry it all! I'm looking forward to starting a new fashion trend! ;)
