Fanny Pack Phobia

I love Baggellini's too but I wanted something just a bit larger so I have an Expedition Bag from Eddie Bauer. I think it's the perfect size.

Fanny, waist, bum - I love my small one. I wear it sort of on the side, on my hip.

I tried a backback, didn't like having to take it off to get things. Plus, it is too tempting to stuff it too much and then it gets in everbody's way!

I do like having my hands free!

I wish my Fanny, waist and bum were small. Mine's just flat and droopy. That's what happens when you lose nearly 100 pounds and you're 51 years old, and you're still not thin, AND you haven't a clue what the word squats really means. I'm just sure it has to do with something you shouldn't refer to in polite company!

Seriously though, I do like my lumbar pack, though it is on the big side. Somehow, though, I do manage to always have the junk to fill it . Mine of course is pink, but they don't seem to have it this year.

there is a thread on the theme park board about this right now as well. I use the small Vera Bradley backpack, love it, and it's washable when we get home.

Love Love Love my "fanny pack"! So much easier than any other bags I've carried in the parks. I know it isn't the most fashionable but it does seem to be the most practical for me. Everything I need is right in front of me, I don't knock people with it when I turn around, I never have to take it off for rides or eating, it's in front of me so it's always in my sight (no "pick pockets") and my hands are always free to help DD's with whatever they need. Holds cellphones, cameras, spending money, debit card, KTTW, fast passes, ponchos, 1st aid supplies, lipstick/chapstick, chewing gum, snacks, a bottle of water, hmmm...think I just filled it up. Fast and easy for bag check at the security checkpoints also.

All I can say is thank heaven for cargo shorts!

I hate hate HATE taking a bag into the parks. I refuse to do it unless absolutely necessary (i.e. right now as I have an infant in diapers).

We don't bring anything in but our car keys, one cell phone, DH's wallet (or just a credit card) and the camera. That's it. We keep those items (except the camera) in his cargo shorts pockets.

(Of course right now I am forced to carry a diaper bag which I do under duress) I did buy an Overland Donner on closeout for cheap (about $18) and it is a good compact bag for the price. Light, pockets for everything, comfy strap that fits across your body, expands enough to hold diapers, wipes and bottles/sippy. Also it is small enough to fit in the stroller basket of an umbrella stroller (Mac Quest to be specific)

Hey we call them bum bags!! And I love mine! Wouldn't wear it at home but it comes out for every holiday. Mickey doesn't mind what you look like so long as you are having fun .

I'm not a huge fan of backpacks...but we did by a drawstring WDW bag last year and it was pretty nice. It was lined and it had a cell phone pocket and zipper pocket inside. If you don't have a lot to carry, its an ideal bag. I don't like having to take it on and off all the time though. We also have a WDW fanny pack but it isn't big enough for larger items. Ironically, I have to use it when we go to Busch Gardens, Williamsburg because they don't let you take any backpacks, purses, drawstring bags etc on any of the coasters. Really peeves me.
My favorite bag has been a shoulder/across the body canvas bag I got from AK Lodge several years ago. Its easily accessible, strudy and has lots of roomy compartments and organizer pockets. It can get overpacked though. My DH and I are going by ourselves this Fall and I'm thinking of downsizing since I won't be carrying everyone's stuff around.

I am also not a fanny pack person, I bought the following travelon bag #F03068 from QVC for $16.80, it was just enough to put money, credit cards, world keys, cell phone and sunglasses. They also have other styles available & they are affordable if you are looking for something to use just for the trip! Good luck on your purse/carrier endeavor!

We always carry a huge backpack because we bring our water bottles snacks, camera, sunscreen etc. We have never had a problem carrying it on all the rides. We can take it on everything from California Screamin' to Tower of Terror. Disney is easy that way. We had a hard time at the other theme parks when we found out that we couldn't take it on all the rides, nor could we leave it on the ground by the loading dock- we had to pay for a locker We wish we would have known that before we went.

I'm occasionally guilty of using a fanny pack when at the parks. On our first trip I started out using a standard backpack but within 2 days I had enough of having to dig through everything to get to what I needed so I switched to a fanny pack.

On our last trip I used a single strap backpack that goes across the chest which was alright but I found the strap rubbed my neck too much when it was full so I'm breaking the rules and bringing out my fanny pack for my trip next year.

I just like the convenience of not having to take it off to get anything and I also don't have to worry about setting it down somewhere and forgetting it. I guess I will just have to deal with the laughs I get.

I just wear cargo shorts or pants (depending on the time of year) and can easily carry everything I need in the parks. If I can't fit it in one of the pockets I don't take it with me. I often wonder what the heck people who don't have kids carry around that requires luggage.

camera that is a little larger than a deck of cards
that darn poncho for the rainy day
water bottle - but have learned to skip that
mostly the extra layer for warmth for the December evening - I'd rather carry it than go back to the room and change. I suppose I could spring for a locker?

Ah, I don't carry any of those so that probably explains it. My camera is small, I don't carry a poncho and being from Cleveland those December nights just don't feel so cold.

It must be nice to live so close that you can go home when it gets too wet and come back when the sun comes out, but not when it is way too hot.
