Fanny or Waist Pack Essentials....Inspired by Sconnell

We're going with both me with fanny pack kids with backpacks plus a strollerwhich will holdbackpacks at timesI'm sure. We have lanyards for our passes, money credit card etc in my fanny pack. In backpacks change of clothes camp towels, firstaid stuff, deodorant, sunscreen, snacks, water bottles , mini fans dollar stireglow things. It wouln't fit in a fanny pack, I don't want to have backpacks but I know we'll need most of the stuff soo...

I bought my fanny pack (lifesaver) at Totes in the mall. I tried on several and chose medium size. Looking at it, on the right is a small pouch for cell phone and on the left a mesh area to hold a drink (but honestly a bottle of water weighs it down and I don't use it for that). There is a large zipper area for baby wipes, purell, sunglasses, neosporin, bandaids, moleskin, DS's birth certificate (to prove age if asked), Affidavit giving permission to take DNiece and get her medical treatment if needed and my meds (migrane). There is a front pouch that has a clip like a stroller. It has a small mesh zipper area that only holds earplugs (earplanes for plane for me and custom plugs for DS who has tubes and can't get in water without them). It has a spot for 2 short pens (I carry 1 pen and one short sharpie marker) next to the mesh zipper earplug section. It has an open area behind the zipper mesh - i throw receipts in. It also has another small zipper pouch for camera and my small wallet/change purse. All these compartments are secured by the front clip. Our tickets are on our room cards in my wallet. I also found cargo capris (cargo shorts for DH) came in handy for park map (which we used often) and for ponchos (which I learned the hard way should NOT be left in the stroller while dining because thats when the torrential rains will come out of nowhere.)

The best thing I did was to put everything else in ziploc bags in the stroller. Even though we didn't cover our stroller when it rained (oops the skys were clear when we went in), everything of import was either with us or safe in ziploc bags in the stroller. My camera was fine in my fanny pack, but to be extra safe, next time, I'll put it in a sandwich size ziploc (or carry one with) in case of rain or if we go on a water ride (I typically avoid). I hung the water mist fans from the stroller (personalized) and nobody bothered them. A small cooler/diaper bag sat in the basket of the stroller. I put bottles of water in it and DS's diapers, clothes, sunscreen, mosquito wipes, glow bracelets were fine in there within ziplocs that we could just take out and throw in the basket once we got to the park.

It was so freeing not to carry a suitcase size purse on vacation. My little (medium) fannypack did the trick!

Here's me with my Commando. It holds everything, including a water bottle on each side. I usually put my Misty Mate (check them out on Ebay - It Is ESSENTIAL!! Especially for a hot day in the parks)

Corryn - My hat is off to you, girl! :woohoo:

That is quite the pack. I just picked up one similar to it today, but was concerned that it would get too heavy. Mine has space for two water bottles, but I was thinking of taking only one. How did your back hold out, carrying that pack all day?
