We are travelling in a group with 5 adults and 2 kiddos. The kids are mine and they will be almost 5 and almost 1 at the time of our trip. We are looking at doing 1 nicer dinner while we are there. I am looking at Steak House 55, Carthay Circle, or Napa Rose. Is it kosher to bring kids to those restaurants. I should say, the older one is an adventurous eater so I am not worried about what he will eat. More worried about the atmosphere and others being bothered. My kids are pretty well behaved in restaurants as we go out a lot as a family, but I don't want to break any unwritten conventions by assuming that it is okay to bring my kids to that kind of upscale restaurant. Thoughts? Experiences?

It's Disney, so I assume kids are welcome :). I have taken both of my kids to Carthay Circle and Napa Rose. The first time we ate at Napa Rose my daughter was 2 and had a complete meltdown (no nap). I quickly took her outside and walked her around the GCH and looked at the Christmas Tree etc. Once calmed down we went back in and she was fine, no other guests looked twice (at least that I noticed).

I agree that being Disney, restaurants expect to see families with children of all ages. As long as you're proactive when the kids are having meltdowns and don't let them disturb other guests, I don't think anyone will mind if you bring young children with you to any of the restaurants you've named.

This. I've been in all 3 and have had great experiences. I usually have my granddaughter who is now 6 has dined at upscale places most of her life and knows grandma will not be happy if we have to walk out. We bring a few crayons and special small toys that she can only play with at these places. She has dined in all the above places and has been fine. That said, we encountered a family at Steakhouse 55 that the small child (2-3?) was fine, but the 8-10yos were climbing on the chairs, tables, playing under the table, running around and playing tag, etc... My rule of thumb is the child needs to be in their chair or standing where their chair is. No running around to talk to people, no yelling or loud voices, and while she is allowed to play on the phone (with the volume low or off) she is allowed 5 mins on the phone, then required to join the conversation for 5 mins. And yes, if your child starts crying, please take them out of the restaurant.

I think in general it is okay as long as they either know how to behave (no screaming, fork banging etc..), or you are wiling to take them outside for a bit during the meal if they are disturbing other guests. I've taken my 5 & 3 year old plenty of nice restaurants and had to take them outside at a few when they weren't behaving.

I would hope that when people go to Disney, they expect to see kids. I've taken our eldest to Carthay Circle several times (starting at 3 years old.) . She is now 6 and knows how to behave at a restaurant. We also bring stuff to keep her entertain. They are very accommodating.
