Christmas Eve so if its off to Downtown Disney this morning, to get each others pressies, we decided not to go mad as there was plenty of time for shopping after Christmas. We walk over to the Marketplace, and split up, I find this very odd as we normally shop together! I won't tell you what we bought but will share this with you all in the next post. I have a wander over to WestSide as there are some things I need to get for Ian from there, I am glad it is daytime, I don't think I would like to be over there alone at night, although we did notice a huge security presence there when we went to Planet Hollywood.
We meet back up at about 12.00 and have lunch at Earl of Sandwich, Ian got the Christmas sandwich, which had turkey and cranberry and stuffing, while I went with the Jerk Chicken, which was very good but spicy. Its all a bit of an odd experience there is a lady having an absolute hissy fit with the waiter as she insists she has four counter services left but he says she has none, she is well unimpressed and the whole restaurant gets to hear about it
We also see a real live Cowboy and are really tempted to try and get a piccie for Tony, but then we notice that he has a wooden leg, and by wooden leg I mean a real one, it was proper oak coloured and didn't have a foot it was just like a pole, I would so loved to have captured him for Tony.
We head back to the room and get ready for Epcot, the first bus that comes along is MGM, so we decide to take the scenic route, get on the MGM bus and then take the boat to Epcot, it took a lot longer but we were in no rush.
We wander around the World Showcase enjoying the odd glass of wine, as you do, and get some photopass pictures taken, I spot Aurora and decide as I have my Sleeping Beauty shirt on I must get a piccie, I have never had a photo with a face character before, but she was very sweet and commented on my shirt, Ian looks mortified though
After a wander around the shops at China and Japan its time for dinner, tonight is Tutto Italia as part of the Candlelight Processional Package, I was a bit worried about this meal, as we were probably two of the very few who loved Alfredos and made sure to eat there every year. The inside looks basically the same, they have spaced the tables out a bit more, it will be interesting to see it after the closure. The menu was very limited not at all like the one on All Ears, I am unsure if this is because it was Christmas Eve, for startes Ian had the Fresh Mozzarella and I had Pasta e Fagioli, followed by Salmon al Forno for Ian and Lasagna for me. I can't even remember what we got for dessert, I know we shared something, we washed this down with a bottle of Pinot Grigio and two expressos. It was good, it wasn't excellent, but it was good, I am sure we will go back, hopefully to the full menu.
We leave, and make our way to the end of the line for the Candlelight (we are at the last performance), stopping for some more piccies along the way. We have advanced seating because of the package, but even so the queue is still past Morrocco! We wait for about half an hour and then they let us in, we grab our seats and settle back to enjoy, our narrator is Gary Sinese, he was very good and seems like a very jolly sort of chap, he really does look like an animatronic though. We both enjoyed this and will do it again next year, it was perfect on Christmas Eve as it makes you feel very festive, the singing was beautiful.
We leave the theatre and watch Illuminations from near Mexico, fabulous as ever, and the extra bit at the end was perfect on Christmas Eve.
After Illuminations we go back to the room, hang up out stockings, and sit on the balcony with some wine and beer, to be honest I couldn't still believe that it was Christmas Eve and I was at the Happiest Place on Earth, it was an amazing feeling.
Ian insists that I wear my new jammies for Santa, even though they are fleecy and I am hot !!!
