We are going on the Magic in June and while onboard are re-booking the Fantasy for September 2013.

Looking at DCL site, no matter what cat I choose I can never seem to get a mid-ship stateroom! DH gets sea sick and every cruise we have always been mid-ship, so I am worried about changing this. What are the cat on the Fanatsy that are mid-ship staterooms?

Also, what is your experience with verandahs and young kids?

I was hoping for an inside or oceanview room but so far they are not availible (still keeping fingers crossed). Im a little worried at night when we close the privacy curtain and go to sleep will the 3 year old open the door!:confused3

Thanks Everyone!

As far as the verandahs go DCL has a safty lock on the upper (i think) right hand corner. Your 3 year old would have to be very tall or have to drag over furniture to reach the lock. I know the cat 4a-4d and the 5a are mid ship.

We have had a 4C on the Dream and now have a 5C on the Fantasy, both midship and love the location! Both have verandahs. The verandah doors are not very light and could be difficult for a 3 year old to open/close and they all have locks located way at the top to the door - way above DH's (6'2") head. You will love having a verandah.

My granddaughter is 3 1/2 and tall and we had a verandah. It was not a problem. The doors lock and I doubt they would be able to get out. The handle turns up to lock so I am not sure they could unlock it. We had 3 rooms side by side and had the verandah walls removed and went back and forth all the times. The kids never tried to climb and there were times they went back and forth by themselves with no adult present. We never felt unsafe, the rails are high and it would take quite an effort to get over.

Also, they were so tired at night they went straight to sleep and never woke up!
