Famous People Own DVC?

I don't know why I didn't consider that famous people would buy DVC, but I was at Kidani for the night last Thursday and Dennis Rodman was there. I am only guessing he was staying in the resort because his family changed clothes after dinner to swim (not a stalker - just happened to be in Sanaa at the same time and down at the pool with my family afterwards). It made me wonder if they stay more often on cash reservations or if they own and use points. Our waitress said that she has seen Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, Celine Dion (?), George Lucas and more. So, do you think they are DVC members?

I would tend to say that "No" they don't own DVC and are probably paying cash. The reason I say this is because the main benefit for all of us being DVC members is to save money over the course of time on our vacations. Does anyone really think that Tom Cruise worries about saving thousands of dollars? Probably not.

Probably not, but maybe they buy it just to have it? LOL

I think Tom Cruise can afford to pay rack rates for the Presidential suite and is too busy to worry about 11 month booking windows, banking deadlines, UY expiring, etc. ;)

There are celebrities that own DVC - I can't think of who they are but a handful of names have been posted here before.

I think Tom Brady was one.

Joey Fatone from the boy band nsync and his wife are DVC members.

This one doesn't surprise me honestly lol.

To answer the original question though I don't think many own DVC. I'm sure some due, but I don't think a lot would. Most likely they don't know how their schedules will look 11 months into the future some times so it might be a waste for them. I think celebs might be more of the spur of the moment type vacationers lol.

If he does own...I am sure he has people to do that for him! :rolleyes1

I think it depends on what you call "Famous".

I have seen post of minor sports celebrities, and others who are maybe doing better than the rest of us, but are not in the stratosphere of rich and famous.

Some celebs stay @ AKL/AKV because it is very remote & there is only one entrance gate. We were there a few years ago when a former Disney Pop Princess was there & unless you were a guest of the resort you were not getting through the gate. Needless to say VERY peaceful & safe. OC Sheriff stopped in a bunch of times.

Even if they don't own, they may just stay there to avoid crowds & enjoy relative privacy.

I think this might be very true. Those sports stars that aren't making multi-millions but doing better then most or maybe are retired from the sport. I also think some lower TV/Movie stars probably own too.

A couple of ones I remember seeing about in the past are Brett Favre, the NFL QB and Fred Grandy(I think that is his last name) who played Gopher on The Love Boat

Too many people seem to think famous &/or 'rich' folk are wasteful with their money. Of course there are DVC members of notable status, just as they may own a condo at a beach or in the mountains, perhaps they just want a go-to place in Disney to call theirs and to share with family & friends. It might be somewhat of a shock to realize that they're human just like you or me, they can also love Disney and they too know how to balance a bank account.

I found the "minor" quote amusing after a Tom Brady mention. (when you could make an argument he may be the best all time NFL QB. I'm a Bears fan and would have to say Devin Hester is minor in comparison to Brady)

Although I can understand a difference in 8 vs 9+ figure wealth..

Some of the richest people I know are also the biggest tightwads.

You can just search the OCC website and look up names if you think they might be members.

I think Sean Hannity owns DVC. I wonder if he gets mad that he can't get Fox at WDW.

Disney sometimes puts up major celebrities in hotels, and DVC has been used for this. My guess is that Rodman is not a member, but probably comped, Joey Fatone- probably not.
