Going on the 12th for a week - mainly to visit my son whose working as a CM in the college program.

Our family always has a meal at Sci Fi together and have been trying for months to get an ADR for Sci Fi on Tuesday June 15th as late in the day as possible. (I had no trouble making all other ADR's - including Brown Derby - early last month) Been checking back repeatedly for cancellations - nothing as of today. The park closes at 6:00 PM that day. What's everyone's experience been with standing by for Sci Fi - and what the latest they will seat you if you wait?

Sorry no help with ADR, but just wanted to say we will be in HS the exact same day...LOL it is a small world! :flower3:

We ate lunch with an ADR there last week. While we were waiting to be seated, at least 20 people walked in wanting to dine. The CM told them they weren't taking any walk-ups, but could make an ADR for after 9:45 pm (park closed at 10 pm that day). Given the early park closing, chances are slim you'll be able to get in without an ADR, but it doesn't hurt to ask. If you don't have any luck securing an ADR before your trip, you might try the Concierge desk at your resort when you arrive or going to Guest Services at the park on that day to see if they can get you in.

We were there over SWW and saw tons of people walking up and being turned away. However, we walked up, 3 of us, were sat within 3/4 min at a table instead of the cars. We had called, tried online and found nothing. We were there around 12:00 and thought we would give it a try. It was very nice, food was good, service was good, even had the chef come out to the table and chat for a while when I asked for one of the recipes for an app.
Keep trying and if all else fails , keep checking at the podium that day. It's worked for us lots of times.

Sci Fi is one of the restaurants that is more difficult to get into without an ADR. Some people have also said that without an ADR you are more likely to be seated at a table and not in one of the cars.

I would keep trying for an ADR every day and even after you get to WDW. You never know. Wishing you good luck. I know how it feels when it's someplace you really want and it's not working out.
