Just wondering - we are looking at booking a trip this summer - it would be our family of 3 (us and 2 yr old) plus in-laws, bro in law w/ girlfriend & sister in law

Would it be better (more cost effective - hint hint) to do multiple rooms for us or to just get a big villa like at saratoga springs??

We stayed in a SSR 2-bedroom with our family of 8. We really enjoyed it because it gave us a living room/dining room area where we could gather to plan our day, etc. There was also a washer/dryer, which was very handy. So, for a family group, I think a villa is a nice solution. I don't know that it is cheaper, but we liked it.

A 2 bedroom villa won't give all those folks their own private rooms, so that's really what you should ask them... how private do they want it?

I love my parents, but them with my husband & me in the same bedroom would not a vacation make.

When we travel with a group, every person gets their own room, either on site in several rooms (ask your travel agent to help arrange for nearby rooms -- Disney will try to accomodate you) or off site in a rental villa.

Another option is two Ft. Wilderness Cabins, that could be a lot of fun! I love Ft. Wilderness.

How much togetherness do you want? ;)

The 2BR villas are very nice, include a full kitchen and washer/dryer. There is 1 King bed in the MBR, 2 queens in the 2nd BR and a sofa sleeper in the living room.

I love my family, but too much togetherness doesn't work well for me. :headache: Multiple rooms somewhere else, will probably be cheaper than the counseling or divorce proceedings later :lmao:

We're DVC members and took my dad & wife with us in December. We got them a studio at SSR and DH & I and the kids stayed in a 1BR at BWV. It worked quite well :goodvibes

Well considering we are going to do the Keys 1st for a few days to dive & then disney... AND my hubby just found a gorgeous 3 BR house in Marathon to stay at with all of them - I am thinking the villa may be a little "too much togetherness" for the remainder of the trip.

So not sure if we will stay on Disney property, or when we went last Spring we stayed at Floridays & liked it - we could do 2 2BR condos too.

We'll have to talk to everyone & see what they have to say.

Another issue,
Last year we did a family vacation in a grand villa. 6 adults and 5 kids. The noise level was amazing. I couldn't believe how noisey we were. With TV's, radios and talking it was LOUD! I loved the vacation but after a long day in the parks I was sneaking off to sit on the balcony for some much needed quiet time.

I'm right with the other posters that said too much togetherness is not a vacation! At the very least I'd get a grand villa but even then being able to say good night and not see them again until you meet up for the next day is nice. So having said that, I'd get seperate rooms for all parties.

When others come with us (and no one has for the last few years because I told them we want to go alone - sounds awful but I want to have special times with my kids), I make my own ressies, then just tell them where we're staying.

A few family members got their own room at our resort, and at other times, people got rooms at other resorts that they like. Now with cell phones, etc., it is so easy to meet up at the parks, or at restaurants. You don't have to spend 24/7 together.
