So, due to my work schedule I may only be able to take my vacation during the beginning on June. I'm a little concerned about reports I've read suggestion family not visit during this time. We are planning on hanging out at our resort a lot, only doing a couple park days.
Any feedback?
Thanks

I will be making my 5th June trip in a week. It's not bad. Hot, humid, and rainy- yes but we have a great time. Go and enjoy!

Not sure what reports you may have read, but I can't see any reason to not bring my family during that time. There will be tons of families with kids-- just more with two moms or two dads than you may find on other days.

I just did a quick search for "gay days" threads and saw positive responses from families who have attended during that time in past years. Maybe some of those will allay your fears.

My kids are always still in school at the beginning of June, so I have not taken them during that time, but I have been during those dates prior to kids and never saw anything concerning.

I have seen inappropriate PDA at Disney many, many times over the years and it has always been by straight couples.

I would really try to reschedule and go during Heterosexual days. :rolleyes1

Seriously though, I don't know what you would be concerned about, it will be fine. :thumbsup2

We went in 2012. Both our HS and MK were the "gay days" on the days we visited. Really I didn't notice much different than any other time. At the MK we noticed quite a few people in red shirts and a several gay couples holding hands. It didn't bother us and our kids (4 and 7 at the time) never mentioned it.

We are going down this June and again our HS and MK days will be on "Gay Day" again. Not worried about it at all.

I have been during this week before and didn't know until I got home that it was "gay days" lol nothing out of the ordinary. I noticed red shirts a lot but just thought it was a tour group lol. No reason for families to not go.... Personally I find Star Wars weekends more annoying ( only bc we are not Star Wars fans lol). Go and have fun who cares if they are "gay days"

We were there during that time last year and in MK and AK on each of the designated days. Just lots of red shirts. Some with designs on them. It was nothing really. I noticed probably only because I knew. My daughter didn’t notice a thing and I sometimes call her the 55 inch high private eye. :rotfl2:

I've not been, but it seems the reports of huge crowds on those days never pans out. Enough people are scared of the big crowds and avoid the "designated" park that it can actually LOWER attendance :thumbsup2

Again, that's just what I've read on the subject, no 1st hand knowledge.

OP, my family and I were at WDW during last year's gay days, and we didn't notice anything inappropriate, or even unusual, until our Epcot day. The gay days crowd was scheduled to be at MK; however, we saw a couple of groups in WS (easily identified by their shirts), and, at one point, one of them heard an older man ask a CM which park they (meaning the gay days crowd) were at, and, appearing to be very intoxicated, he found the older man's inquiry offensive (and it may have been, I didn't hear all of it), so he started screaming at the older man, using some rather colorful language. His friends dragged him off as quickly as they could, because security got called.

I'd have no problem going at that time because I want my kids to be raised understanding that there are gay couples and families, and it's ok. My only concern would be increased crowds.

I wouldn't even think twice about it. We have been to Provincetown with our kids and they didn't even blink, and p-town has some very colorful characters and stores too. I want my children to recognize that there all different people in the world, why not see that at disney.

I've been to Gay Days twice at Disneyland but never at WDW. Never saw anything outlandish or inappropriate. I should point out, though, that we "front load" our parks days by getting there at rope drop. (On our last trip we had Early Entry so we started in the park at 7:00 am) I have heard that something the evenings turn into a party atmosphere, but we never were around that late.

Our upcoming WDW trip will overlap with the end of WDW's Gay Days. We already decided our park days and coincidentally they don't line up with the Gay Day parks that are scheduled.

I think if you are concerned about crowds, just go to a park that is not listed as the park of choice on the Gay Days schedule and you should be fine.

I've been the first week of June a few times, and never noticed anything.

I've seen WAY more gay couples over spring break and other times of the year. I love that at Disney, you can be fat or skinny, gay or straight, from anywhere in the world, and just go be a kid having fun!

We are headed to dis June 1-7 (next week!!!!) and I'm more worried about te crowds, we've previously only been in January... Anyone have any more thoughts on the crowds?:) (it's my personal feeling that everyone is welcome at Disney so designated days don't bother me, unless it's crowded!)

We are going to be there June 4-12 and I am just worried because easywdw says it's an "8" every day and I have only been in Feb and Oct when it's not crowded at all. I hope that it won't be that bad. I have heard that it's actually more pleasant during gay days cause the "mean people" avoid that week.

It is crowded because schools are starting to be over for the summer.

As far as "gay days" don't worry, gay people are at the parks every day 365 days a year, by themselves, working, with their partner, or even with their own family.

As far a s people drinking and acting inappropriate, yea... those hetrosexuals are most likely the primary offenders most often of that scenario.
