My son and I are planning on a family trip in November/December for about 4 days. We are looking at renting DVC points, and the resorts we are looking at would be Bay Lake Tower, Beach Club, and Boardwalk, or even the Swan Dolphin. I know DVC rental is on another board. The question I have is what resort do you think would be best for a family trip with a 2 1/2 year old? I'll be meeting my granddaughter for the first time ever. At first I was thinking we would be spending a lot of time at the Magic Kingdom, so BLT but not necessarily. The Christmas decorations will be out then, with Santa's everywhere. So what is the general opinion? Which resort would you choose in that situation?

I’d pick BLT because most likely MK will be the main park for a 2.5 year old and the short walk from BLT to MK will be great for mid-day breaks. However, I don’t think you can go wrong with any of those choices.

Renting DVC points is a great option and personally I prefer using the boards rather than a rental broker because it’s less chance to get what you want and the process more complicated thru rental companies.
There’s a problem tho. The resorts you’re looking at are already booked pretty tight for fall season. Beach Club and Boardwalk have a few openings in the 1BR category. BLT is 98% booked.
Not sure what size room you need. Poly has more openings than your preferred resorts. The points are a bit higher but at least there’s studio availability left and it has the magic of being an MK resort. Don’t want to make planning more stressful than it is but if you’re seriously wanting to rent at a park resort the end of this year, time is of the essence. You’ll need to book with a specific resort owner further out than 7 months (which is necessary for popular resorts that season). Good luck! It’s still definitely doable.

In terms of convenience with a 2 1/2 year old (if MK will be the most visited park), I would put the resorts in this order:

BLT
BCV (BCV is a close second as the location of the villas puts you really close to EP, Skyliner, QS and the park buses - the Boardwalk also gives you a chance to stroll in the evenings)
BWV (good location for EP and DHS - not as convenient for QS and buses)
Swan/Dolphin

BLT gives you the convenience of being closest to the MK, which we spent the most time at when my kids were that age. You can even walk to the MK---which could be nice not having to collapse the stroller to and from the parks. BC and Boardwalk are nice because there are alot of different food options close by with walking distance or a short boat ride away.

Late Nov and early Dec might be hard to get a DVC rental unless you already have it booked. You might be too late. Things are getting back to normal and some owners have lots of points to burn. Oct through early January can be tough to book less than seven to eleven months out.
