Sunday, January 29 –

Last Day for most of us. Warm and sunny! We are finishing the packing. GPA and I along with DGD are to move into a Studio for one night. This is a plane ticket thing, but DGD has just figured out that her mom and dad are leaving, so was making some noise about wanting to go with them. Sorry, the airline does not make those kind of accommodations. We are hoping that the Studio would be ready when we checked out of the GV, but no such luck. So, let’s just say there was a bit of luggage/car/packing/throwing out of food/ contretemps which occurred and rather spoiled the last few minutes. Everything got sorted out and most of the luggage was now in storage as it and they would be picked up by Magical Express at 4:20 pm.

On to the pool – and thankfully it is such a nice day. We get towels and find a couple of nice tables with some shade. Suits were retrieved from luggage and everyone basked in the last beautiful afternoon of a great vacation. The kids went down the new slide at OKW and played in the sandy playground. The adults read or chatted. Our Studio became ready and GPA and DS moved our luggage, etc. in for our remaining night. We had lunch at various times from Goods to Go and some Mickey Bars for dessert. Those are the best!! It started getting a little windy and cloudy and everyone changed their clothes and prepared for their trip home. We went to the front of HH and waited with our (jolly?) group for their Magical Express bus to come. And come it did and right on time. We gave kisses all around and loaded them into the bus. DGD was just fine now about them leaving, no tears or misgivings.

Back to the Studio and again the wonder of a different (but same) room for DGD. I am sure she still has not figured it all out. We decided to drive over to Uno’s for dinner. Princess Chicken Finger would have cheese pizza! We had a nice waiter and I asked him if he could bring her a plate of sliced tomatoes and he did that and she ate them all up. And ate a good part of her pizza. I had some pasta for a change, and GPA had his usual pizza. So good. Then a quick trip over to Downtown Disney for the perfect picture frame for the family picture from Chef Mickey’s. And DGD said that she needed something for her friend, Olivia. We found a nice sticker book after setting a limit on how much DGD could spend on it. (Or it might have been a $50 lanyard!) Found the frame. Then stopped in at McDonald’s and got ice cream for DGD. Sat outside, as it was a beautiful night and just enjoyed the ice cream and talking with her.

Back at Studio it was bath and hairwash for DGD. One last parting and braiding of her long hair. And we threw all of the bath capsules in so we did not have to take them home. (They look like pills and when they dissolve, the sponge inside puffs up and it is an animal or circus performer.) And organizing the suitcases, so we would not be overweight in one. This is always a major undertaking, as there always seems to be more, but we managed it by using a larger canvass bag as my carry-on, putting my purse in the suitcase and using my original carry-on as my purse. And to bed for all.

Final Day and Summary next!
