I am trying to plan a small family gathering with one of my siblings, his wife and their two kids (ages 3 and 1), my aunt and her daughter (12) and my parents. In total there will be 6 adults and 3 kids. for the kids, it would be the first time in a Disney park and for some of the adults, they have not done Disney in many years. We are trying to decide a trip for Memorial Day weekend 2022, but are trying to decide Disneyland or Disneyworld. We are coming from Washington, Arizona and Utah. I know planes flights vary in destination, but from previous experience, would you say going to Disneyland or Disneyworld for a 5 day trip would be the better option?

Personally, I don't think DL/DCA is a 5-day experience. If I were going to DL for 5 days, I would probably do other things in the area in addition to DL. WDW can take up 5 days and then some, so I would probably opt for that. Just keep in mind, no matter which location you choose, it will be quite crowded that weekend.

I second this. It will definitely be crowded but these days it’s hardly ever not crowded anyway lol. WDW is so large it has something for every one and leaves space to really explorer.

The 5 days depends on if you want to do other things on the trip as well. We went to California/Disneyland for the first time this summer. We were on the ground for 8 days, but only spent 3 days between the 2 parks and did almost everything we wanted to. Of course, you could do 5 days and re-ride the favorites, etc. Or if you wanted to look outside of Disney, there's Baseball games, beaches, Hollywood, and many other things you could do in southern California. If you go to Florida, you're more likely to spend all your time in the parks, which isn't bad either. With 4 parks, there's plenty to keep everyone busy.

After 30+ years at WDW, we recently went to DL. The best word to describe our trip is disappointment. If it is a first trip for them, the magic is in Florida, not DL.
However, either way, enjoy your family trip.

I agree with the previous poster. We live very near to WDW, and are in the parks weekly ( and still find it magical!). We were in Anaheim for work for DH. I thought going to DL would be different and fun since we hadn't been since my ( now 13 DS was 6.) DS13 and DD4 kept saying how much better ' our disney at home' is. DISNEYLAND was a huge disappointment for us, and I wish I had saved the money!

When I read your post, I cringed for you. I"ve never been to DL but WDW will be mobbed. If DL would be less crowded, I'd choose that.
