My husband and I are planning a trip for September and need resort advice. We will be traveling with our son who will be almost 2 at the time of the trip. We are leaning towards a family suite over a regular room so we will have the option of a separate sleeping space but is the upgrade to a 1br villa a better option? I like the idea of a full kitchen if needed. I know I won't be cooking full meals in the room but we may do some simple ones at times. I'm unsure of whether or not we will take breaks but I know it's going to be hot and we aren't interested in pushing him past his limits in the parks. I will add that we are older parents and while he won't remember this trip we will and we prefer not to be miserable. Which would of the two you choose and why?

Not sure if any 1 BR villas are still remaining, as September is a big DVC usage time, but 1 BR villas at Saratoga Springs can be rented for as cheap as $360 per night using David's DVC rentals. If that's the cheaper option, that's what I would go with.

One Bedroom Villa: Deluxe Resort [amenities], King Bed, Washer/Dryer, and a balcony.

It's certainly a delicate balance though... weighing how much time you'll actually spend at the resort and if the difference in price would justify the upgrade! For us, Disney Vacations... are still first and foremost vacations... and we try and maximize what's offered to suit our needs. If I didn't have to sacrifice [too many] other aspects of my vacation to afford the 1-BR Villa... we would upgrade. The Family Suites are perfectly fine... and they would absolutely suit your needs if you end up in that direction!

In addition to the room, you are getting deluxe amenities with the 1BR. The values are fine, but there are thousands of people staying there and they are just a lot busier with people everywhere.

For example, Saratoga Springs has hot tubs, pool slides, quick service and sit down restaurants. The bus comes near your unit. Values don't have sit-down restaurants or hot tubs. There is one big bus stop.

1BR Villa for sure IF you can get one. If you are interested you need to move ASAP. As stated that is the busiest DVC Season.

If price does not matter then the 1BR villa for sure. As others said they go FAST that time of year and more then likely will be gone by now (might be able to get them via cash from Disney)

We have done the family suites at Art of Animation twice and love it. You will get the privacy you want with the separate bedroom, the theming is great for the young one. Don’t waste the money for Nemo section either. Grab Cars or Lion King and you will be fine.

Good luck and enjoy the trip.

There are also lots of great 1 BR suites for cheap right off property. Considering you are bringing a 2 year old, I am assuming you are not desperately trying to get FoP FPs 60 days out anyway.

Definitely the 1-bedroom suite! You will have the amenities of a deluxe resort plus a washer and dryer, which, I find invaluable when traveling with children!

I was surprised to see there is lots of DVC 1-bedroom availability for September, especially during the first two weeks. Definitely the villa!

If you rent points, the villa will be only a bit more than a suite at AOA. Having done both, I would go with the one-bedroom suite. If you book it directly through Disney, it will be a good bit more, but if you rent points, the price difference will likely be close. Having a full kitchen and washer and dryer is nice.
