Okay, stupid question!

What exactly does Family Style Platter mean? :confused3

It means that the food is served to you at your table, but not on individual plated servings. You serve yourself from the community plate/bowls -- like you do at home for a family dinner (at least we do).

For example, at Akershaus breakfast, they bring one platter to the table that has the eggs, potatoes, sausage -- all the hot foods. The other food there is on a buffet.

Okay, thanks! I saw it listed on another site under the Cat of All You Can Eat. Didn't sound quite right to me! :goodvibes

One thing to clarify-you're not sharing the family-platter with other tables, your family is seated at their own table & they bring a platter that is just for your family.

And at the family-style meals, it is all you can eat...if you would like more, you just ask for more (either the whole platter, or you can ask for specific part you want more of.) For example, at The Garden Grille in May 2008, we really like the potatoes & the flank steak, as well as the corn bread so we asked for more of those. The waiter brought out more immediately (actually too much more! We were so stuffed we couldn't finish the de-lish dessert.)

Thanks! That makes sense; I suppose I was thinking All You Can Eat to be exclusive to buffet tables. I was thinking about the Garden Grill for lunch as it's being discontinued but DH can really eat! :rotfl:
