Family Portraits at WDW

We would like to get a family portrait done while on vacation. Originally we were going to go to the beach for a few days before WDW & were going to get a proffesional beach picture, but now have decided to go all Disney to. Anyone done this before?
We want a nice professional portrait to hang in DH's new office after our trip. He graduates from law school in a few weeks, the bar is in July, Disney celebration trip in August & he starts practicing law in September! It's been a long three years, but it's paid off.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I just called Disney photographers & had to leave a message. If you leave your email address they will send you information - I'll let you know what I hear.
If anyone has used someone not affiliated with Disney who did a good job I would like to hear about it. I'm assuming Disney is going to be expensive, we'll see if it's in the budget.

My husband and I scheduled this in the Magic Kingdom for our anniversary trip in December 2005. When we called we were quoted "1/2 an hour with a photographer for $100 and you get 2 5x7 pics or for 1 hour with 20 4x6 pics for $295." We decided to go with the 1 hour because we wanted to make sure we got some good shots to choose from. Well when the day of the pictures came around Our photographer speed walked through several places in the magic kingdom then rushed out of there. We didn't know how long it had been when he left knew it seemed less than an hour. When we asked for the time it had only been 30 mins. Well we just assumed he thought we had ordered the 30 mins with the photogapher and decided we would call later. Well when we called we were told that they didn't really go by the amount of time they spent with you but more on how many pictures they took and after they thought they had taken enough to get 20 good ones they were through. Well of course that upset us because that's not at all what we were told. If that's the way it works then why even quote a time at all. All of that did put a damper on the whole experience but our pictures did come out great. He did a fantastic job posing us and you can't see another person in any of our pictures. I just don't feel I got the value out of my $300 that I could have if I had the whole hour to visit different sites in the Magic Kingdom to get shots in different places.

We did this Dec 2004, but we had a group of 12. It did take close to an hour, but it was because we had so many people and different family groupings. We took pictures by the castle, by the riverboat dock, and by a storytelling area (can't remember the name of this). But at each location, we had about 5 different groupings of people. I can see that it would have gone much quicker with just 2 people. At that time, the only option we were presented was the $295 (think it was more because of having 12 people) and the 20 4X6 prints. Note that they choose some of the prints and put them in a sort of folio, and those are cropped to 4X5. So, if you're not using the folio, some of the pics aren't a full 4X6 . You can purchase additional prints, and there was a package price that wasn't too bad for some 8X10's, 5X7's and wallets. Our photographer didn't seem to know how to work with the kids to get any sort of a natural smile, and we had the sun in our faces for the pics by the castle, so it was hard for everyone to have their eyes open and smile. I wasn't really thrilled with the pics, but it was difficult to get all 12 people looking good at the same time. I imagine it would be much easier working with just 2 adults, and having better results.

the next morning after our wedding we did the Magic Kingdom Wedding shoot: they take you into the park at 6AM before anyone else is there besides the cleaning crew and do photos: we had a photographer named Mike, I am sorry but I can't recall his last name, but he has been with Disney for 20+ years and is excellent. The thing about Disney photography is that it is hit or miss because you don't get assigned a specific photographer so you may get a rookie fresh out of school. Anyway, here are the castle photos

For a final note we went back to WDW a year and a half after our wedding and had family portraits made at the BW at Christmas time. We used Randy Chapman again. He is an excellent photographer that can easily suggest poses.
