Has anyone done a family portrait at Disney, either in the parks or at one of the resorts?
I'm wondering if anyone could recommend a photographer? I know if it's in the parks it would have to be a Disney one.
I had Randy Chapman for my wedding, but I didn't know if he did family portraits?

My wedding photographer misty does them, if you email him he might do it for you, i think misty gave us the price of an engagment shoot so might be the same for randy

I wanted too but it was $500 and it just wasnt in oir budget last year, we are hoping to do a dessert party in epcot for evryone this year so might see if we can have one done before that as we have family going that couldnt get to oir wedding

Hi :goodvibes

We did the resort photo session in 2010 and another one last year and both were worth every penny.

It did change last year but the experience was the same.

We picked the Poly in 2010 and it cost us $99 plus tax. At the time it included the photos on CD with copyright release as well as a print package. The print package was removed later that year. It was run by Photopass so the images were also put onto a PP card allowing you to add them to your CD if you had bought one, and to edit them with borders. We got 79 photos that year, all of which were brilliant, most of them worthy of enlargement to some degree if we so wished and the only 'duds' were two where my eyes were closed but they don't delete so even when they do a Take 2, you still get the original pics.

It has now been changed and costs (not sure if it's gone up again) $150. The only difference is that it is no longer done by Photopass (so you don't get the images on your PP card) but you still get the CD and copyright release.

We did last year's one at the Grand Floridian and came back with 59 photos. I can't say they were any better than the ones done by the Photopass photographer, but they were certainly worth every penny.

If you go for the one in the parks it is an hour session as opposed to 20 minutes and costs $350 plus $50 if you want the CD which is otherwise not included and I think you get to opt for some basic touch ups and editing.

Please feel free to ask questions.

Last year I deliberated about another one

2Tiggies - that sounds great. I am going for Disney in March with my husband and 2 girls for the first time and I have always wanted to get a family portrait. Who do you contact about setting this up?? Thanks :-)

Randy Chapman definitely does them at the resorts.I plan on booking him for our anniversary this year. he did our wedding pics in October and he was amazing.

Hi Kelly

It's booked through Disney Event Photography. I am posting you a link to their site as there is information on there. It is the "Mini Portrait Session" we did. You book over the phone (I have never booked more than a few weeks out so no need to panic about booking in time before your March trip).

What I would suggest is that you pay attention when choosing a time to the sunset/sunrise times so as to avoid direct glare from the sun which we struggled with significantly on our first session. The pictures in my siggie below are all from the two photo sessions we did (2010 and 2011)

With two children (you don't say how old your girls are) I would NOT go for the expensive one hour shoot. An hour is a very long time to expect children to co-operate. My DD is 9 and has an excellent concentration span for her age so she was fine with the shorter session but I know that pushing it to an hour, she would have lost interest so save the pennies and get yourself 30-60 nice happy pictures rather than a similar amount where the kids are crabby ;)

If you need any help or want to view some samples please feel free to send me a PM. I have been struggling to get on here this year, but I will reply :goodvibes

We went the Photopass folks a couple of years ago. The big benefit was getting the copyright release. We had 10 people and did the 40 minute shoot at the Beach Club. We did some indoor shots and some on the beach. We ended up with over 100 photos on the CD.

A friend of ours suggested making sure everybody was in a pastel colored knit shirt. We bought a variety at a local discount store so they were similar but with different colors. We asked everybody to wear light colored slacks. Our friend's idea was fantastic. The photos are a lasting memory and a collage is hanging on one of our walls.

You might want to make an appointment for your session. Their phone number is 1-407-934-4004 and, from what I can tell, you can reserve 30 days in advance.
