Okay, we have debated an adults only resort and it seems everybody has come to a common thought that it would be great.

I would like to know if people think a family only resort at WDW would be a good idea. There would be larger rooms for grand gatherings and small rooms for small families.

But there would be no honeymooners or singles unless they are with a large group. There also would be no convention people or business stuff going on at this resort.

I don't think this would happen but it is a thought. What do you think?

Im pretty sure most hotels already have this, like the suites at ASMu or POR (i think, i cant remember which resort has the 5 person rooms). I think all the values are family based and have no convention people (usually).

And DVC is a huge selling point for families too... they have accommodations that are perfect for families, as do the cabins at Fort Wilderness. WDW is mostly family resorts... One additional resort built for adults wouldn't change anything other than the other resorts would have more room for families.

$1.00 - $0.98 = my $0.02 cents! :moped:

hey I am against both.

share and share like.

besides been a single all my life and enjoy watching a child's excitment when going to the parks.

it is the parents who are trying to force that same child to go to one more thing, then one more, etc - who I want to kill. It is not the kid's fault they have a melt down - it is the parents.

You have a valid point.:goodvibes

I'm all for a resort that isolates the children so that I don't have to hear the obnoxiously loud children in the room next door or in the hallway running and screaming when my family paid $400/night for that room.

Families with more than two children have been severely neglected by WDW and I think they definitely need to overhaul that system and offer bigger and more afforable rooms.

I've always loved the idea that's been floating through the rumor mill for a while, that the unfinished section at Pop would be completed as a resort entirely comprised of family suites like the ones at ASMusic. I think it's a great idea, since right now those family suites are the only value option for a larger family, and there's not that many of them to go around.

I know it's probably just a hypothetical question to see the other side of the adults hotel thread, but I think making a "family only" resort would be a ridiculous idea. When resorts decide to cater to an exclusive class, they usually decide to do it for a minority population. "Family" guests are the most common guests at WDW, which is why most of the resorts cater largely to families already.

Also, would a "family only" resort mean a dry resort? I would also think there are alot of dads out there who would go nuts without being able to sit back and have a beer as a little break at least once! :rotfl: Even adult family members like to do adult things once in a while....

I would LOVE to see more choices out there for larger familes. As it is, they're suprsingily limited.

But, as I stated on the "adults only" thread, any resort which excluded part of the population simply doesn't make economic sense to me.

Admittedly my degree is in math education, not marketing, but I just don't get it. Why on earth would Disney, or any company, choose to exclude part of its customer base in any of its resorts? What financial incentive could possibly make that a good idea? How would it make money for Disney if a couple wants to go last minute, but the only rooms available are in a resort theyr'e not allowed to book????

AS it stands now, anyone is free to book anywhere. How on earth would Disney make more money by excluding any of its customers from any of its resorts???

Bottom line: Disney is a company whose first job is to make money. Building a ____ only resort doesn't help it make more money.

I could see Disney putting in all family suites in the unused Legendary Years section of POP, but that's about it. They already have suites and villas that accomodate families of all sizes. But more family suites is a good idea. There are a lot of families that have 5+ in the family and can't afford to book two rooms. Family suites are a great option for them.

Gee, never thought of that. That's a great idea.

It would all depend on demand though, for suites or a family only resort.

If enough people wanted it and were willing to pay for it why not? I don't think there is any demand though -- There probably is enough to justify the suites.

I dunno. I think all this segregating is silly. Where do you stop? Do you have seperate resorts for females? Seperate resorts for gays? Each different group can show reason for having their own resort. Sure babies crying may upset some people and make them wish there were no kids around. But is it so bad that you can't deal with it for a few nights? Can't we all just get along, people???

"Sure babies crying may upset some people and make them wish there were no kids around. But is it so bad that you can't deal with it for a few nights? "

Yes actually it is. I've done my time with that age group (my babies) and we are adult lovers of Disney who would prefer to not have to "deal" with that type of situation while on our vacations. My husband works a 72 hour work week and vacation is very precious to us. I also don't like hearing the kids running the halls at 6AM. Doesn't make me a kid hater! And please spare me the rhetoric about "adult behavior" that has been bantered about on the other posts. That is what security is for. You call them and its done. You can't call security on a beaner who is so excited about seeing the mouse or who is having a screaming fit at 2AM. Sorry!

I am all for WDW creating larger places for larger families and grand gatherings. Unlike many others who think of it as segregating and want to bash people for it (!!!! and no I am not referring to maxiesmom) I think the more choices people have, the less likely you are going to have confrontations over the issues that pop up on these boards over and over.... I know many years ago we stayed in the Treehouse Villas and they were amazing for a larger family with 3 bedrooms, tons of space, washer/dryer, etc. I don't think larger families should be told they have to book multiple rooms or hope they can get adjoining rooms. Those treehouses rocked!

With the amount of money that ALL of us spend on our vacations, I would love to see WDW be responsive to many more of the options a lot of people would like to see.

Well, as all can see I have a small but growing family.

My hubby, an accountant/military man, crunched the numbers for us and DVC was a "money pit" according to him, and that we would have more money if we just invested, so we did. He showed me his numbers and I would have retirement and more disney vacations. It is for some, not us.

I already have access to an exclusive resort on disney property because of my husbands profession. That is why my son's argument for an exclusive adults only resort won me over.

I would like cheaper family suites on the disney property at a wider variety of resorts. I also like the idea of honeymooners, and other adults, that don't want to be around my children, to just not be there.

So, if they build a hypothetical exclusive resort for only adults, why not do build a hypothetical family resort just for young growing families maybe with more kid pools and/or for larger groups that don't want monthly dues?

My DH and I are a family.
Do you mean only families with children?
I wouldn't be against that.

If it's just man and woman, husband and wife, or one single there would be a restriction, but if you came with a friend or with children then no restriction.

A standard room would be able to have four adults.

Anyone can book the DVC resorts. You can't book them a year out, but you can book them. And no, they aren't cheap. But....I don't think that family sized is going to equate with cheap, and that's the problem. I think you would find that those who prefer to stay in an adult only resort will be willing to pay the price for it. But, I doubt you are going to find families of 6 that are going to be happy about paying deluxe prices for a family suite. So...the suites would have to be minimal, just like the value resorts, without a ton of theming..at least similar to the values. If Disney turned POP's Legendary Years into an area of family suites it may appeal to bigger families. But, I'm not at all sure how the suites they already have are as far as being booked all the time.
The problem I see with a 'family only' resort, is that you can pretty much do that now...you have to book either a villa (big bucks) or two rooms (connecting) at a value or a moderate. So, Disney may think they already have that base covered. But, there is not anywhere for those who prefer adult amenities to stay as it stands now. I love kids, I have kids. But, sometimes it's nice to not have to share the hot tub with little kids at night, or young teens who are on the rowdy side. Or to just lie by a pool without some little one running past me, dripping all over me, or splashing me from the pool. I know, I know...WDW is about the children. But, it takes nothing away from the children if adults have their own area to hang at.

Hypothetical.
Suppose I booked a room in a family only resort with my two kids. Arriving late in the evening the management sees there overbooked ant the only room left is in the adults only resort.

Will they throw me on the streets ore may we sleep in the adults only resort?
Must we sneak in like thieves and are we thrown out the next morning with electric cow teasers?

Hypothetical.
We booked a room in the adults only resort .. Same situation. No room available ant they let us in the family resort by the back door and sneak us to our room with the maintenance elevator.
Next morning security sees us and with handcuffs on we brought to the public market were the guests who have the right to stay there may throw garbage and rotten eggs to us.

How do you all think this would work? There will be a lot of angry guests on both sides. It seems to my that by creating segregation Disney will create a dog for theme selves that bites in his own tail.

Another question.
What about a resort for Arabic people? There must be tons of lovely and nice potential guest from the Middle East who wood love to visit Disney. The women often live under very strong believe restrictions. Segregation from men, always cover there face and special Hallal food wishes.
Should Disney built them a separate hotel were only women are allowed? Pools for women only?

And NO I’m not a Muslim basher. When I get my chemo treatment my neighbour is the most lovely and sweet lady I ever met. We cry together, comfort each other when we see how mutilated we are after surgery. She told me how to cover my bold head whit a scarf .

The name for this hotel will be easy. 1001 Dreams ore Scheherazade’s dreams.
It will be practical impossible to build hotels for every group separate.

Open your hart and let the sunshine in.

I agree.. DVC was pretty much made for this purpose- family resort.

Oh please...there is no lack of love here..my heart is open and the sun is ashining on in. But....just because some may feel that they would like an adult type resort, on Disney property, how that heck does that impact those who don't want to stay there?
No tasers would be needed...no handcuffs. That's a bit 'out there' don't you think? Sheesh...I've never seen so many get in a twist over having a resort for a 'special group' of people. Talk about lack of love!!! Howabout live and let live? Why can't adults have an adult experience without it upsetting those who don't feel the need to use it...beats me.:confused3
