Last time we sailed we did not have tablemates. I am reading a lot of treads of people with tablemates. As a family of four, will we have tablemates this time?
Thank you in advance.

It really is hit or miss....sometimes parties of 4 have a table for 4 and sometimes that are placed at a table for 8 with either 2 couples or another family of 4. Luck of the draw.

Last December we were a party of four; we requested our own table and got it. Next month we'll only be a party of three, but again requested our own table. We're keeping our fingers crossed that our request will be met again. princess:

Last cruise we were aparty of 3 and requested a private table and got it...this time we are a party of 4 and requested a private table and I hope we get it...I will check upon boarding and if we don't have one I will request it again.

Where's the fun in not getting to meet your fellow cruisers?
IMO, getting to hear what people have done and what they think about the cruise is always interesting.
But, if that's not your thing, I get that too.
Good luck on whatever you choose to do. :wave2:

You can always request to have OR not to have tablemates.

When do you make this request? When you board? We are
going in July 2004 can I make this request before then?
There will be 5 of us...all adults.

Thanks........ :grouphug:

Hi jvas,

You can make the request even now.

We are going next March and we sent our request thru our TA around 3 weeks ago.

The TA called us back a few minutes later that it was set: Disney Wonder is going to give us a table for 4.

to me having tablemates is part of the fun. I was just looking at or July 4th Mexico cruise at the pictures of us and our table mates and remembering how much fun we had.

I Captain parked the ship off Catilena Island just in time for us to watch the fireworks, it was on the same side of the ship as our balcony, so we sat out on the balcony with some drinks and watched the most spectacular fireworks I have ever seen.

I agree that meeting fellow cruisers is lots of fun and having table mates is a good way to do that. That being said I will be requesting a table for 4 for our family next year. We have never sailed without friends or family so we've always shared our table with someone. While I enjoyed the company at dinner I also found that I didn't get to spend any of that time with my kids. There was just too much going on or they wanted to sit with the other kids at the table, etc. With DD turning 12 next year I have suddenly realized that there are only so many more years I have with her before she is an adult. I want to make sure we get lots of quality family time on our trip and with the kids in their clubs for much of the day dinner is the perfect place to come together - just the four of us.

So while I think having table mates is great this time I'm hoping we will have a table for four.

Exactly the way I feel...my daughter is much younger (4)but I take her on the cruise so I can actually spend time with her and we can sit down at dinner and talk. I won't have her in the club for dinner time, I want to spend time with her so if she does want to go to the club she can pick a few things she wants to do but otherwise I am hoping we can spend as much time together as possible, its a family vacation and I want to spend time with her....heck otherwise I might as well leave her home with grandma!!

Let me first say that we've never had "BAD" table mates (but I have heard of some horror stories). For our first four cruises, we had table mates, and for our last cruise of just DW, DS, and Me; we had a table to our selves. So far, I would say that the worst table mates we've ever had were better than eating alone.

Of course we've also been lucky enough to have some ausome table mates.

We cruised on the Wonder just a few months after it was put into service. Disney was filling up the boat by offering some great discounts to employees (this is back when both the Magic and Wonder were just doing the 3/4 day cruises). One of our table mates was a park employee with her mother, and another table mate was a high level Disney project manager. We really enjoyed those conversations with these "Disney Insiders".

The following year, we did one of the first 7 day cruises and our table mates were two other couples that had also sailed on DCL numerous times. Because we all had a history of enjoying DCL, we greatly enjoyed each others company.
