OK, here's a hard question:

2 parents, 3 kids (2 girls ages 21 and 17, 1 boy age 13 - ALL of them very light eaters and 2 of them picky!).

Planning to do probably one all-you-can eat, the rest will most likely be grabbing food where we can. Specialty restaurants are out (ie, ethnic because of the picky eaters).

Do you think we can do this on $1,000 for 6 days?

Suggestions on restaurants that have a nice diverse menu - where kids can get mac/cheese, chicken nuggets and parents can eat healthy??

Thanks for any ideas!

Kris

If none of you are heavy eaters and if you are willing to eat counter service meals for 2 meals a day then you probably could do it for $1,000 but might be cutting it really close.

Depending on what you eat, an average table service meal will probably cost $150+ for the six of you (assuming no appetizers, no alcohol, and just a main course and drink). So one table service per day times six days is $900 by itself.

Hi

not sure if it can or can't be done it depends on were you eat and were you are staying alot of folks like the disney dining plan here is a link(actually from the top of this page) with tons of info about it.

also here is a link to menus of the parks and resorts these may help you decide were to dine secondary to the picky eaters - also most places have chicken nuggets and mac&cheese as "KIDS" meals options but most counter type places aren't checking to see if you have a "kid" with you;)

hope this helps you get a start.

We spend about $10.00 a person on CS getting what we want. With that in mind - $50.00 for lunch and dinner puts you at about $600.00 add another $100 for one TS - you are at $700.00. We usually scrounge for breakfast, but you should be able to handle hearty breakfast options on $50.00 a day.

Favorite places for reasonable, non-picky meals:

Columbia Harbour House (eat upstairs) and
Spoodles pizza

We eat at Restaurantosaurus in AK nearly every trip just because of the convenience and plenty of seating.

When we first started going to Disney, I would go to the menu's and pick the restaurants we were going to, Then I'd pick the most expensive items on the menu, or the most expensive items we would pick. I could come out pretty darn close - I always added in a few dollars extra just in case. Now I don't stress about the cost, we've been enough that I don't really worry about it.

For $900 you could do the Quick Service Dining Plan so they answer is Yes you can do it. BTW you cannot add the dining plans on after you get to your resort.

If I understand this plan, it would include 2 CS a day and 2 Snacks plus a refillable mug. Breakfast would still need to be included to some degree. The QSDP would be replacing breakfast funds with snack funds.

I love the idea of having the credits: but I can never talk myself into buying the dining plans. IF I ever do by the regular DP, I will leave WDW weighing about 25 lbs more than I started. But it would be fun. Just making all the ADR might be worth the investment.

I had the pin code to get a $500 gift card with each package/room. Since there are 5 of us, we are getting two rooms at POP and two $500 gift cards. So we'll use those for dining! Works out great!

We were on the QSDP a few weeks ago. We used a chunk of our "tons o' snack credits" to create small, quick, in room breakfasts. We also would share some of the dinner or lunch CSs at places that serve large portions (Cosmic Rays for example) With the "extra" CS credits we chose to split a breakfast CS platter a few mornings...use our mugs for the drink and take the *2* drinks (included with EACH breakfast CS credit) into the parks with us for hydration :) There are a lot of ways to "work" the QSDP and get a LOT out of it. We were very pleased with it.
