I have a friend with 5 kids. They want to take a Christmas trip to Disney World. What options do they have as far as lodging? They would prefer a suite. They have looked into the cabins at Fort Wilderness but are trying to come up with other options. What do you guys think? Don't let me down.

Unless one of the kids is under 3, I don't think they can stay in the cabins with 7 people. If money is a concern, I would recommend two connecting rooms at the resort in their price range. That way they would have two bathrooms!!!! Also, if they had connecting rooms at the Poly or the CR they would have a hugh amount of room to spread out. They have some of the largest rooms on property with two queen beds and a day bed in each room. Keep in mind all the deluxe rooms do not have daybeds and all moderates and values have double beds.

I know nothing about suites. Someone else would have to answer those questions.

Have fun helping them plan!!!

Thanks. How about AP discounts vs AAA? Would he benefit from either? If so, would both adults need an AP to make ressies for two rooms?

That's right - the cabins only sleep 6 unless one is an infant. Two connecting rooms is this family's only choice other than 2 bedroom suites and they are very pricey on property. :earsboy:

Only one person in your party needs an AP to book two rooms. I'm not sure how good AAA discounts are. AP discounts usually run around 25-30% but it varies a lot.

A two bedroom villa at any of the DVC resorts would accomadate them. It sleeps 8. Also they would have the added benefit of the full kitchen and washer and dryer.

The could rent DVC points for a 2 bdrm and get a great deal and alot of room..

We are a family of six planning a WDW vacation for next winter. I too am thinking the villas would be our best choice but would prefer to get some sort of discounted rate if it's available. Also, which villas are 'the best'? I'm leaning toward the WL Villas but not commited yet.

What is DVC?

Depending on when they are going, that is peak season. If money is an issue than 2 connecting rooms at a value is their best bet, To keep in mind, just because they have an ap does not mean that they will get an ap discount. I know the swan/dolphin was offering some good rates last year. Do they qualify for govt, teacher or nurse discout, aaa etc? They could do 2 rooms there. I guess you would have to know what their budget is too so you dont break their bank, keeping in mind food and park tickets etc.

They would qualify for Gov't and or teacher rates. How good are they? Are they only available at the Swan and Dolphin? What can they expect to pay?

Explain why they wouldn't qualify for an AP discount.

And - if they rented through a DVC owner, they'd be getting Deluxe accomadations for the price of a moderate!

we have 5 children too we booked 2 rooms at por this seemed like the best place for us we are on a budget so the lodge and othere larger places were just 222222 much monet :flower:

But if they want to rent a reservation from a DVC member, they need to get moving on that real soon. The resorts could be booked nearly solid with wait lists very soon.

They would be making an agreement with an individual, not Disney, so there are no rules. The member could require 50% up front, cash only, with the remainder at least 60 days ahead of time. Plus if they needed to change or cancel their reservation, they might be able to get a refund. It just depends on the member.

Read the tips on renting a reservation from a member at the top of the rent/trade board before you put a request out for a reservation.

We have rented points for our Apr. trip and are staying at the BWV. WE will only stay there 5 nights because the Fri & Sat night pionts are too expensive.
