Family of 6

The Fort Wilderness Homes hold 6, so do the the Vacation Club 2 br villas. You could check on the DVC Board here about renting points. No place will hold 6 in one room. You could get 2 rooms at a value resort, they say if the kids outnumber the adults, they will guarentee connecting rooms.

I would also recommend two connecting rooms if budget is a concern. We are a family of six and love having the extra bathroom. Disney has always guaranteed connecting rooms for us because of having four minor children. The FW homes are great and we loved them when the kids were younger. But now they are all teens/young adults and everyone wants to shower in the morning, so two bathrooms are a real time saver!

How old is the youngest? If you have any under the age of 3, it doesn't count against you for occupancy rates. You can stay in a room for 5 if so.

We are a family of six and get two connecting rooms at a moderate (with AP rate). Still cheaper than one room at a deluxe!!! Can't beat the extra bathroom (especially with four dd's, two of them teenagers!!) :earseek: It's the only way to go! No AP rate?? Get two connecting at a value!

Wilderness Lodge Deluxe Rooms sleep 6. They have 2 queens and a sofa that pulls out to a bed. There are pictures on allearsnet.com. They are expensive though.

Okay..options for on-sight are:

2 rooms at a value or moderate (usually the least expensive option)

FW Cabins sleep 6 with a Murphy bed in the living room and a bdrm with 1 queen bed and a set of bunkbeds. This will give you a full kitchen and outside to deck to sit on but only 1 bathroom.

A jr. suite at CSR or a jr. suite at WL will both sleep 6.

A 2bdrm villa at any of the DVC's will sleep 8 with a full kitchen, full living room with a queen sleeper sofa, in room laundry, master bdrm with king bed, master bath with jacuzzi tub, 2nd bedroom with either 2 queen beds OR 1 queen bed and one sleeper sofa and a balcony. This option is pricey to book directly through Disney though possible, you may want to look into renting points from a DVC member where you'll pay dramatically less. If interested hop over to the DVC Rent/Trade board here on the Dis;)

Beyond that you would need to get a regular SUITE at the deluxe resorts and then you're getting really expensive.

**note**
As previously mentioned, if you'll have 5 plus 1 child under age 3 you will be able to book a room for 5 if the under age 3 child can sleep in a pak-n-play crib.

Options for 5 (discluding getting 2 rooms) would be: POR in the AB section (2 double beds and a trundle bed)

or Most of the deluxe resorts accommodate 5 with 2 queen beds and a daybed.

HTH's:wave:

Another on-site option: Boardwalk Inn has a deluxe room that sleeps six and comes with concierge privileges. Pricey, but concierge means you don't have to buy breakfast for six every morning (a significant savings since even a food court breakfast for six can easily run $50 or so each day).

Also, as far as DVC, you only pay "dramatically less" by renting points if (1) you don't stay there on weekends when point requirements double and (2) you don't want daily maid service. Otherwise, rent through CRO and try for an AP rate.

Actually, that's not entirely true. :scratchin

Here is an example of why:

To rent the points for a 2bdrm villa for an entire week stay - 7 nights - checking in on Sat. Dec. 3 checking out Sat. Dec. 10, 2005....if you rent the points it will cost you 218pts (this is including Fri. and Sat. night) for a 2bdrm villa at OKW. (I used my home resort). 218 pts @ $10 per point will cost you $2,180.00 that's it nothing more. Of course renting points you'll only get limited housekeeping unless you want to pay extra for it but....to book that exact same villa at the exact same resort only booking directly through CRO:

(I cut and pasted this directly from the Disneyworld.com websight)

Disney's Old Key West Resort Resort Total: $3,824.52†

Arriving on 12/03/05 for 7 nights
2 Adults, 4 Children

Relax in the casual tropical ambiance of a quaint Key West resort.

Resort Category: Disney Vacation Club
Room Type: Two Bedroom Villa
Ticket Type: None
Package Type: None

Includes Disney's Magical Express!
-----------------------------------------------------
Try it and see for yourself;) Disney CRO wants $3,824.52 vs. renting pts for only $2,180.00

$3,824.52 - $2,180.00 = $1,644.52 Sorry, but even with the weekends, over $1,600.00 is still dramatic to me. If you do not include wknds in a point rental, yes, it will be even less but OVERALL to rent points for the entire week is still less than paying for the entire week through CRO.

This is all for room only by the way...no tickets involved or dining. I don't know how that would compare but for room only it is indeed dramatic. But of course, renting is not for everyone as there are risks involved....but the savings if it IS for you is quite a bit:scratchin

Hi, we had the same question (we have 6 in our family, youngest will be 3 years old), and I keep going back and forth between the FW Cabin and 2 value rooms. Right now I have a cabin reserved. I'm flexible, though. Here is my strategy so far:

If we happen to get the free dining PIN code, then I'll switch to 2 value rooms because then I'd have to pay rack rate for the rooms and I can't afford rack rate for the cabins. The free dining would be a great value for our family. If we don't get a free dining code, then we'll stick with the cabin and pray for a low AP discount and plan on cooking some of our meals at the cabin and probably get the DDE card for discounts on other meals.

If anyone sees any holes in my logic, please feel free to point them out... I appreciate all the help I can get! :flower:
