family of 6, 2 rooms. dining credit ?

If you are saying the keys indicate the party split up by room, that is not what our keys were like. We had 2 connecting rooms under one reservation number. Our keys indicated the total party size-4 adults (for dining purposes) and 1 child.
Were you staying at POR or a deluxe that would technically hold 5 people in one room?

If so, that would explain why your entire party was printed on each card and why your dining credits were pooled.

If you were staying at a value, moderate or deluxe that would normally only sleep 4, you would have automatically had 2 resort reservation numbers and your dining credits would have been split.

Just checked our reservation. 2 rooms, just one reservation number. What threw me was when I looked at the reservation they have the 2 rooms listed and me and 2 youngest in one room and husband and 2 oldest in other room. I know it doesn't mattter how we split up, I was just worrried that the meal credits would be seperated this way. FOr counter services that could become a PITA, especially with Thanksgiving crowds. Thanks for all of the info!

Sorry but you are mistaken. We had rooms that sleep 4 and we did not have 2 resort reservation numbers and our dining credits were not split.

Unless the child on your reservation was 2 or under, I think you are mistaken. I used to work for Disney reservations while I was in college and if you were booked at a Disney resort, in 2 standard connecting rooms, which had a 4 person max per room, and there were more than 2 adults on that reservation you would have had 2 reservation numbers and your credits for your dining plan would not have been pooled together. You can't override that in the computer. I don't usually like to post on here because CMs get a bad wrap sometimes about misinformation, but this I know is true.

Nope no child under 2. I know exactly how my reservation worked as it worked perfectly for us. I have the keys and the confirmation to prove it. Multiple people have posted here over the years that is how their reservations worked also. In fact see post 22 above. I had a great cm that I worked with to make the reservation that knew exactly what she was doing. Are you really BuzzandWoodymom ?:rotfl:

Mam, I'm a man. And you are wrong. I know you are one of those Community Board debaters that always has to be right, so I won't post anymore about this topic, but you are wrong and you are giving out incorrect information here. You did not have one reservation number in the scenario you stated. It did not happen.

emailed Disney yesterday. Here is my response from them

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World® Resort.

There will a room key for each room. The system automatically will add
meal entitlements to each key for the number of people associated with
that specific room.

However, you are welcome to speak with a Front Desk Cast Member at
check-in, to see if they can combine the meal entitlements on each key,
or give each adult in the party a key to each room.

We have larger parties in multiple rooms travel with us all time, so
this should not be a problem.

If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact
us.

You commented that CMs get a bad reputation for false information and you're demonstrating exactly why. I'm pretty sure the previous poster knows how to read and is intelligent enough to know how to tell the difference between a receipt showing a full total of all of her credits on a single receipt vs part being on one and part being on the other and how to identify a single confirmation number vs 2 separate ones. Just because you never learned how to set up this kind of reservation does not mean it's not possible. Your tone is also adding to that bad reputation as you're being unecessarily hostile towards a poster who is just sharing her experience.

Last November we stayed at POR with 2 connecting rooms. When we signed in they asked how we were dividing the rooms and if we had planned on staying together the whole time. When I told them we would all be doing everything together ( it was just 5 of us 2 adults and 3 kids) they gave us one card that would open one of the room only. Then they gave us all our Key to the world cards that had our dinning, park tickets and the other room.
Maybe you can ask at check in and they can do the same for you.

Here's what we did on our last stay: we had 2 rooms, 1 res had me and dds on it and other had dh and 2 ds. The credits were split up between 2 cards. We just used his card for one meal (ts or cs) and them mine for the next. That way it was easy to keep track, 1 day we used his card and next day mine, so same # of credits were taken off each day. It was easier than doing to bills.

Did they let you purchase 6 meals on one card even though it only lists 3 people? We have done the plan several times before, but this is our first time in 2 rooms. I know they say that you can only purchase the amount and types of meals listed on your card (1 adult, 2 kids). Was that a problem?

No, it wasn't a problem, we just explained to them the way we were doing it. A few times they asked to see both cards, but never actually swiped both of them, just looked and saw 1 A & 2 Children on each, that seemed to satisfy them.

Let me approach this from the other side. I would assume that one reservation # could give all credits together but with variables. However, with 2 rooms, there is the possibility of getting the DDP for one portion of the group but not all or a different plan for some than others. It might put the connecting room thing in jeopardy though. If they are separate but teh same plan, I don't think it matters at all other than you'll have to give the server both cards and they may have to do separate checks which could generate separate (but same total) charges on room or CC.

They're never guaranteed. If you arrive and that connecting room isn't available, you dont get it. Especially with two adults, even if you have the same reservation number, it doesn't mean the rooms will be guaranteed to be connecting. At any rate that is a discussion for the resort board.

We have 2 adults and 3 minor children and the lady who booked us said we would be guaranteed connecting rooms and it is listed on our reservation it says connecting rooms guaranteed. It actually surprised me because in the past we were always told they were not guaranteed. I think she just didn't know what she was doing.
