I understand that it is difficult to find places for a family of 5 to stay. My DH and I stayed at Boardwalk last time with two kids (3 and 6 at the time). What we didn't like was that once the kids were asleep in bed, we had to hang out on chairs in the bathroom area and read...So this visit there are 5 of us - kids are now 4, 5, and 8. Given a choice, would you go to POR or get 2 connecting value rooms?

It all depends. My DH and I stay at the YC with our 3 kids, 4,6,8 and have had no problems because we are so exhausted by the time we get to our room, we all go to bed at the same time. But, if you want your space- alone time- then I say go for the connecting rooms.:flower3:

Another nice thing about two connecting rooms, or a family suite, is two bathrooms!

the problem is, I don't think they guarantee connecting rooms, so you might be stuck with 2 rooms that don't connect, which would defeat the purpose.

we just stayed at the yc and hung out on our balcony after the kids went to sleep. it worked well. then once they were asleep, we were able to come back into the room and turn the tv on low.

growing up, we always stayed in one hotel room, a family of 5. we kids used to go to sleep and dad would put the light on at the desk or little table and read then, and it really didn't bug us, at least not once we were asleep.

I COMPLETLY understand as we are a family of 5 too. Our young ones are still 1 and 2, so we have to stay in one room. But once they went to bed we wanted to relax and enjoy the evening together like we do at home.

I'd suggest one of the hotels with a balcony, a 2 room suite, or maybe a cabin at FW.

Good luck!:wave2:

Do you know which hotels allow for 5 and have balconies? YC for sure, don't know about any others. Thanks.

We had a balcony at GF. We sat out while the kiddo's slept. I love this hotel. A lot of the rooms have a view of Cinderella's castle and you can see the Electric Water Pageant Parade from some balconies as well!

How about renting a house. You could rent a house and have lots of privacy.

Contemporary, Polynesian, AKL (not all rooms hold 5), WL (not all rooms hold 5). DVC 2 bedroom villas hold 8 and have a balcony.

Thanks all for the reply/help. I cannot believe how lucky I just got. I have been on the Disney site searching and searching over the last week. Today, (I still can't believe it!) a family suite opened for the spring break week we are looking for. Of course, I grabbed it as fast as I could. Now I just have to start making dinner reservations.:)
