What happens if we go to a sit down restaurant and we order a meal and give some to one of my children?

We share many of our meals.
If you are on the DP, this gives you extra credits to use for another ressie.
Some of the restraunts have very large portions and plenty to share. For example 50's prime time fried chicken gives you 4 pieces of chicken and 2 veggies. We were a party of 5 last year and we ordered 3 chicken dinners and all 5 of us shared. No problem. We also split the burgers and onion rings at Sci-Fi. YUM!

You can do this anywhere but at the character buffets, any buffet really and at a TS restaurant where someone has gotten an "all you care to eat" meal.

Obviously at the buffets everyone is charged full price to be there, no matter how much they eat.

Have a great trip!!

You are exactly right! :thumbsup2

So for instance if we wanted to eat at Liberty Tree Tavern and we ordered three adult meals then we could split them with our kids if we wanted to?

Only during Lunch since Dinner is "all you can eat family style".

You cannot share at any of the buffets, family style all you care to eat places, if someone orders an all you care to eat entree from the menu (e.g skillet at Whispering Canyon Cafe), CRT or any of the dinner shows (Hoop de Doo, luau, Mickey's Backyard Barbecue.) At any of these meals everyone 3years or older is charged regardless of how much or how little they eat.

People have said that Beaches and Cream is the only Table Service restaurant that doesn't allow sharing if you are on the dining plan and want to use dining credits there.

You also can't share at Mama Melrose or Brown Derby, if you are doing the Fantasmic pkg. Everyone at the table must have purchased the Fantasmic pkg, regardless of what they eat.

You will only be allowed to order as many adult meals as you have adults in your party. So, If one of your kids is considered adult, then yes you could order three adult meals. However, if all of your kids are under 10, then you will be only able to order 2.

My kids have frequently ordered adult meals as the childrens menu does not appeal at many TS. My 2 kids almost always order one adult entree at Citricos and California Grill and then share. We don't do the dining plan though.

This statement is only true for those on the dining plan using credits. If paying OOP you can order anything you want.

Yep, you are correct. I guess I shouldn't speed read. I read the second poster advising about their use of the dining plan, and then got them confused with the OP. My post only applies to the dining plan. :upsidedow

We have found ordering an appetizer for our kids is also a good option. We love our salads and soups in this house. I will often get a full meal and our older daughter just orders a bowl of soup. We then share and have more than enough food for the two of us and still get our favorite appetizers. When we are on the dining plan, we pay for her appetizer out of pocket, and then use the exrra credits to help pay for 2TS meals, such as Hoop Dee Doo.

On the dining plan, when we add an appetizer, it ends up giving us an appetizer to share, an entree to split, and a dessert to divide between the two of us, and it ends up being the perfect size for the two of us.

My teenaged son, however, uses his table service credit, and orders an appetizer out of pocket, and then usually finishes off anyone else's leftovers. He is the only member of the family who actually comes out ahead at a Disney buffet.
