Hi everyone,
We are a family of 5 planning a trip for Dec 2008. We have stayed at the All Star Music suites and Port Orleans Riverside. Enjoyed both, but thought we might like to try staying somewhere new. I am planning to buy 1 annual pass and thought with the discount might be able to afford a deluxe resort. I called CRO today with a few questions, and the cast member said that AKL and WL standard rooms do not accomodate 5 people. I was so disappointed, these are the 2 deluxes we really wanted to try. I thought all of the deluxe standard rooms could accomodate 5? Is this something new? Have the standard rooms at these two resorts always only accomodated 5? Thanks in advance for the information and suggestions!

How old are your kids? We're a family of 5 who stayed at the Boardwalk Inn last trip. Our entire family loved the convenience of being so close to Epcot and MGM, and my teens really enjoyed the shops, entertainment and food choices on the boardwalk itself. We also did the jetskis and liked the beach type atmosphere.

The kids will be dd5, ds7, ds11 at time of travel. I don't know if we could stay in a studio at boardwalk? I hadn't thought about going there, thanks for the suggestion.

Our family of 5 has stayed at both the AKL (2xs) and the Poly, however, we booked a deluxe room. So they have options for 5 but not in a standard room. The AKL is amazing, I would definitely try to compromise somewhere else in your budget in order to stay there if you can.

I could have sworn that the deluxes had studio type accommodations that slept 5, not their DVC villas but actually deluxe studios, that includes WL, Poly, AKL, Contemporary, Y&B. I do know that certain DVC studios at AKL villas do sleep 5 but I am not sure if you could rent them for cash. You may need to rent points here on the Disboards at the DVC rent/trade section, which may end up saving you some money for excellent deluxe accommodations. That said - I do know that the Fort Wilderness cabins sleep 6 comfortably and several posts here say that they are wonderful and you would have a kitchen area available for meals. It's always nice to not have to jump out of bed and rush somewhere for breakfast. Good Luck!

As far as Vacation Club Villas go, you cannot put 5 in a studio.

Wilderness Lodge has the deluxe option, so does AKL. WL also has a junior suite which sleeps 6.

I thought you could put 5 in a DVC studio if you rent points from a member as opposed to booking through CRO. Has that changed?

The fifth person in a studio would have to be a child under the age of three for a studio. DVC doesn't allow five in a studio except for this.

The OP could try to get a one bedroom villa AKV because most will sleep five (with the addition of a sleeper chair in the living room). The Polynesian and Contemporary Resort both have rooms that sleep five (two queen beds and a twin sized day bed).

Most of the deluxe rooms at AKL were converted to DVC villas (studios and one bedrooms that usually connect to make a two bedroom). There are some deluxe rooms remaining available to non-DVC guests.

we have stayed at Fort Wilderness twice. first, we drove down with our pop up and camped. The following year we stayed in a cabin. The cabin was excellant for our family of five, (kids 12, 9 and 3) lots of room, kitchen.....

Now that we have stayed there twice want to try somewhere new too. We are leaning toward All star Music suites. :goodvibes
