Family of 4 in a Poly studio?....

Our kids are 15 and 12. The 12 year old sleeps comfortably in the pull down bed. Poly has the largest rooms of all the Disney DVC Studios! We love staying there and it is always our first choice.

Those rooms were very spacious back in the day when they were just hotel room at the Polynesian, two queen beds and a real twin sized day bed. The bathroom was a lot smaller in the hotel room. Then they took 1/3 of the space and turned it into bathing space, leaving not so much for living.

I don't understand why they put one bed in the studios... why not 2? I must be missing something with the thought process on this....

Only OKW studios have two real queen beds. All the rest have a queen bed and sleeper sofa (some have queen sized, most have double sized). A few have the bunk sized murphy bed. The OKW studio (the first one) was a lot larger than the rest once they found out DVC was going to be a hit. BLT couldn't fit two queen sized beds without moving the kitchenette wall and they'd still be almost touching each other. Studios were never meant to be hotel rooms with room for five (and six if one is under three) based on industry standards. Studios for Hilton and Marriott timeshares only sleep two. Disney needs to sell to the masses so they needed to make it affordable for families. They do that by stuffing the studio.

I stand corrected, the best part of a studio is having a real bed and a sofa. IMO.
If the sofa was any good for either sleeping or sitting, I might agree with you. It's not.

We stayed at Poly last Summer for 8 days - 2 adults, 13 year old on sofa bed, and 7 almost 8 year old on murphy bed. It was absolutely fine! The 2 showers/sinks was awesome to have when it came time to get ready! we put suitcases under bed and near wall and it was still roomy enough. Biggest problem was the table, but we put it near the balcony and still had room to walk in and out the sliding door!

When we stay in a studio it is just DH and I. I love the added floor space not having a second bed brings. If we were evermore we would choose OKW with 2 Real Queen beds.
I hate trying to stuff more and more folks into Studios
