I know this was discussed during the holidays, but this just has really flummoxed me. I generally don't have a problem with getting a family "newsletter" type thing in a holiday card. I've never sent them, but it is interesting to read up on distant family members doings and all.
However, I just got what I consider the oddest family newsletter. First of all, it was sent in a 9x12 envelope, like the kind you send important documents you don't want to fold. I opened it up, thinking maybe it was a family re-union announcement--being early February, I had no reason to suspect it was a holiday card.
Well, it was a 4 page "family newsletter" printed on card stock (very heavy paper) including a 1/2 page article about their dog who died, and a 3/4 page article about one of them getting a speeding ticket (along with the usual "this is what we've been doing this year" articles, full color photos included.)
My jaw was quite literally hanging open as I read it. There was no holiday card, no "hope you are doing well, too!" greeting, nothing. Just this family newsletter. From, btw, my mother's first cousin, whom I've met maybe 5 times my entire life (at reunions, weddings, or funerals.)
Is it just me, or was this......well, kinda weird? I'm still shaking my head over it. LOL
