Family member joining us on second leg of b2b question

We are booked on two cruises b2b. If, on the second cruise, we have an additional family member joining us in one of our cabins, who wasn't on the first cruise, how does that work, with boarding? Does he board separately? Do we wait for him in the terminal and board at his PAT? It would be fine if he boarded alone and met us on the ship whenever he got there, as we kind of wanted to enjoy the experience of the b2b, walking around on a nearly empty ship, experiencing things as the crew worked to get the shop ready for the next cruise, etc. Just wondering if it is allowed for us to board separately from someone in our same cabin.

Your best bet would be to call DCL directly for up-to-date answers to your questions.

Absolutely the additional guest -- assuming he is an adult with his own ID, etc. -- can join you onboard. There is no requirement of the whole party boarding together.

Enjoy your cruise!

We found that it was up to the CMs working the boarding area. We did B2B with my DH and I on the first cruise and then my Mom and kids joined us for the second cruise. We met them outside the terminal and then all checked in again together for the second cruise. I asked during check in if we could all board with the B2B group and was told no. We thought it was no biggie since we were concierge anyway but when we went to wait in the gate area, DH was chatting with the CM there and said he and I were B2B with the family joining us. She asked if we had the blue tickets (showing we were B2B) and we said yes. So she said "Come on in" :) This was port of San Diego though.

Typically, any new cruisers must check in at their appointed time, and board with the new cruisers. If you wish to board with the new cruiser, you, also, will need to wait for his boarding number to be called to board.

Or, you can check in and board early (as B2B) and he will board later and meet you onboard.

Our most recent B2B, we boarded just before Concierge boarded (around 11:10), so not really a lot of crew cleaning going on by that time.
