Family Magic Tour

We are taking our grandchildren to Disney in Feb. and have noticed a few families mention the Family Magic Tour, and what fun the kids have. Where do you buy tickets for this? And, are there special requirements: like DVC, staying on site? Thank you for the help.

The Family Magic Tour is phenomenal. The kids have a great time. You make reservations from 407-WDW-TOUR. I do not belive there are any special requirements like staying on site, etc. The tour is about 2- 2 1/2 hours long with one bathroom break in the middle. You do receive a discount if you are a DVC member, and possibly an annual passholder but that I can't remember.

Basically the tour takes the kids on an adventure through the Magic Kingdom following clues to different locations, all the while doing silly things like playing follow the leader, yelling for Tinkerbell, and such. All based on the premise of saving the Kingdom from disaster thanks to some of the resident villains.

At the end, you will meet a character (or two) in a private area reserved just for your group. In the past we have met Princess Aurora and Peter Pan and Wendy. After pictures and autographs, you will then be taken with the characters onto a ride of the groups choosing. There is no better feeling than watching your child/children walking through the Kingdom holding hands with the character heading to a ride. My kids have done the tour three times and have loved it every time. I highly recommend it.

You can just call disney and ask for the Family Magic Tour - You do not have to wait and call at 90 days. Tickets are $25 a piece however you can get a discount if you have an Annual Pass, AAA, Disney Visa or DVC. We did this tour in May and it was wonderful - my kids are still talking about it . This was the highlight of our trip. I used my Disney Visa and got 20% off. Have fun!!

Those ages are fine. The tour leaders are very good at getting children of all ages involved. Ours had children 3 through 16. This tour is a bargain. You receive VIP treatment in more than one way.

For those of you who have done this tour - how do you think a nine year old boy who thinks he is "cool" would react to this tour?

My girls are 5 and 7 and I know they would love it, but am uncertain about my son. What do you think?

Well you act silly and other people in the park stop and look---maybe he will forget about being "cool" for a little while and have fun?

My DS will also be 9 and DD will be 6. Do you think this is something a 9 yr old would enjoy?

To those of you asking about ages ranges just wanted to let you know that my kids were 11 and 8 when we did this tour in May - They both LOVED it!! We even had a couple older kids on our tour maybe in the 13 - 14 range. Everyone enjoyed themselves! If you think that your kids would enjoy it go for it and have fun!! My 11 year old DS thought it was the coolest thing that we did the whole week - LOL

We have this tour booked for the first week of January. Just wondering, do they ever cancel (due to rain or poor low attendance)?

I don't think they would cancel for low attendance because I have heard of families being by themselves on a tour, bad weather is another problem. You are walking in all the elements, so if its really bad I believe they would cancel.

On my tour there were boys around 10 and 15 . They were too cool but I think they enjoyed there parents goofy behavior and the the guide was still able to get them involved!!!
