I am new to these boards. I read somewhere that there is a Family Magic Tour that involves characters interacting with the children on rides????. Can anyone tell me details about this tour, what it entails, how much it costs, if it is appropriate for a 5 year old and 21 months old, how much it costs etc.

Thanks:Pinkbounc

We went on the family magic tour in May with our 3 year old. It was well worth the 63.75 for 2 adults and 1 child. (my guess is the 21 mo would be free) The tour guide had a huge story book with lots of pictures and we had to answer questions about MK. that eventually took us through the park. (Take a stroller) At the end, Peter Pan and Wendy came to thank the group for saving the MK and then rode a ride with the families.

Now is my time to mention, that our family was the only guests taking the tour that day. So, our daughter spent about 15 minutes with Peter and Wendy. The guide ropes off a little nitch by the castle, and it is very intimate. My daughter then chose the Carpet ride and walked from the castle hand in hand with the characters. No one else was permitted to approach Peter Pan and Wendy - so special. She then got right on the ride without the wait. Afterwards, they walked us to a little shop to say goodbye - hugs and kisses. It was the most special memory for our daughter. She loves Peter and Wendy to this day, and often talks of the experience.

Thanks so much for the info. Can I book this through the Reservation Line and is it known under that name? How long is the tour? Do you know whether it is always Wendy and Peter Pan or do you have a choice?

Thanks

We did the Family Magic Tour in August ... it was $25 per person ... I called the regular reservation line and they transferred me to the correct person.

We had four families start the tour, but one family dropped out part-way through as it was their first day ever at MK, the younger son was afraid of villians, the oldest son was "bored" (he was about 12) and wanted to ride the attractions ... so we ended up with 6 kids on the tour.

As we were walking thru Liberty Square on our way to ride It's a Small World, Peter Pan grabbed my grandson's hand ... they ran over, hopped the fence around the Liberty Bell and RANG IT!!! It happened so fast, I hardly had time to grab my camera. What was really special is that William wanted to meet Peter Pan this trip and was THRILLED by the attention he rec'd.

Once we reached IASW, we entered thru the exit, grabbed a boat and rode ... Peter and Wendy interacted with the kids through-out the ride. Afterwards each family rec'd a special certificate.

The tour was a lot of fun and my grandkids (6 & 8) want to do it again next summer ... in my opinion it was well worth the cost ... just be willing to be silly ... we skipped, hopped, took giant steps, sung, crawled, acted like ballerinas, jet planes, lions etc. across MK ... this was one crazy grandma who crawled through a restaurant with the kids, LOL!

There's no choice of characters and I don't think you're guaranteed Peter and Wendy.

Wow - sounds like your grandchildren had a wonderful time. Are you looking to adopt any extra kids???LOL Wish my children's grandparents were that adventurous.

Thanks for the info - you've convinced me to book the tour when we go in January.

Hi.

We went in July on the Family Magic Tour. Sone was 4 1/2 and daughter was 2 3/4. Daughter was free. Under 3 is free. We had a full tour group. I had read about the tour on this board from many people and we decided to do it. If the people in the group are not willing to participate in the silly stuff, it will make for a very long tour. Alos for our son who was 4 1/2, he can read yet and so all the older kids were reading the clues and kind of crowding the front, it made it hard for him.

If I had to do it again, I think we would have waited until they were older. You will have to skip, hop, crawl (yes crawl).

One other thing, if you booked your trip through AAA they will give you a card that gets you 15% off the tours. It's not just being a member of AAA. You have to book your trip with them, I believe. It also get you other discounts including 10% of World of Disney shopping at DTD.

Have fun.

Sounds like a lot of fun. Maybe we will try it next trip.

LOL!!! I'm a "young" grandma (50 on 10/5) and really enjoy doing things with the g'kids (just like my grandparents did with me). And I probably looked pretty silly skipping, hopping, singing, taking giant steps and CRAWLING around the Magic Kingdom ... but it was great fun ... just be prepared to be silly!

We did the tour twice on our trip in May. Both of the tour guides we had were great. They made a big deal about everyone participating. No one was left out. We had children from age 2 to 13 ( us really big kids were also included in everything, too!!) I even had to hand off the camera to be the leader one time! We are definately doing the tour again on our New Years trip. Don't forget you can get a discount with your annual pass or Disney Club (while it is still around).

We're a family with older kids, 12 and 18. Would we stick out if we took this tour? I'm looking for something that doesn't require you to be 16, as many of them do.

It has been my experience that generally children 4 - 10 years old have a fantastic time on Disney's Family Magic Tour. Older children, especially older boys tend not to enjoy themselves as much. However, I have seen 17 and 19 year old's go on the tour and love it. I've even seen 80 year olds have a fantastic time... and keep up with their grandkids.

Overall I would say that if you have a good imagination, are a good sport, and want a chance to live out a Disney adventure at the Magic Kingdom, you will have a great time on Disney's Family Magic.
