I admit it, I'm not a FG "fan" but I did ocassionally get sucked in while flipping channels sometimes. The other night however, they just went to far to me and REALLLLY were distasteful regarding the baby Stewie and sex. Am I a prude or do shows just go too far? It really ticked me off to see a poplular show like that take a baby (i know he's not, but he IS kwim?) like that an sexualize him. Ick. I won't watch it again. It really was just disgusting and vulgar (i get the show is vulgar, but this was just tooo sick)

Let's discuss. :)

I hate the show too. It's just stupid on so many levels that it doesn't even seem funny.

Oh no, you are correct, that show is way too vulgar for me, and not even funny. I can handle my share of bad taste funny IF I am going to :rotfl2: but if it's gross, just to be gross, then it's up there with the weirdos in the park and I'm outta there.

Another who will not watch it. The little bits I see when skimming channels are enough for me. Blech.

Personally I don't have any problems with family Guy or Southpark but I also don't think anything is off limits when it comes to humor. JMO and I take a lot of stick for it here at times.

I'm not sure how often you watch the show but Stewie is basically a closeted homosexual adult who is portrayed as a baby on the show in the same way Brian is an alcoholic liberal intellectual portrayed as a dog.

I am going to faint, but I agree with you. :rotfl2:

I love the show and often laugh my head off at some of the things they say and do.

I LOVE Family Guy!

Its only TV! :happytv: It's not real. I mean, the Dog talks and drives a Prius!

I guess you did not see the new SouthPark? Now that went too far....:lmao:

Eh, it is Family Guy. It finally grew on me.

It took me a while to "get" Family Guy but now that I do, it's some really funny stuff.

I have outlawed it three times then let it creep back into our house. Personally, I think it's in very poor taste but funny-as an adult. I was very against my son being exposed to that stuff when he was younger. All his friends were allowed to watch it for years before he was. I still don't like knowing he's watching. The other night, I said, 'please turn it off!' He did. He thinks I'm funny being so protective. I'm glad he knows I think it's bad...as parents we need to stay vigilent in different ways as they grow older. Just thinking I hate it is good for now.

Well, it is definately not a kid friendly show nor is it intended to be. How old is your son now?

Exactly. Stewie is an adult in a baby's body.

I get offended by a lot, but I go into watching Family Guy knowing its going to be vulgar. I also think its hilarious when Brian actually acts like a dog :lmao:

I think the older episodes are much better than the new episodes.

OK, well I didn't watch True Blood because the first episode freaked me out but then peeps here were raving and I tried it again and was :thumbsup2.... love love love it!

Sooooo, now you guys are raving about Family Guy. It COULD be that I was listening with my kids in the house which means Mommy ears were on which means I was in lock-down mode where I don't even snicker at the blatantly funny because one must set a good example:littleangel:. Sigh.... so now I guess I will go and DVR a few episodes and see if it's actually funny when I have no-one watching to see if I laugh at inappropriate humor... because I do that, just not in front of impressionable minds who should know it's only OK to laugh at dirty funny in the street like I did:rotfl2:

I agree completely. I'm no prude, but FG goes too far for TV, especially since animation catches the attention of children who happen to be skimming channels. Thank goodness for parental locks.
