So this is who all is going
DH, myself and our DS (age 4)
My sister #1 her DH and her DD (age 4)
My Sister #2, her DH, DS (age 5) and DS who will be 20 months
My two adult kids and 1 of their friends

Our problem is everyone but my sister #1 wants to stay in the Cars Family Suite's at AoA, we will be getting 3 of them, my sister #1 wants to stay in the Mermaid Rooms - they are located at opposite's ends of each other.

Will this be ok, with their rooms that far from ours? She is about saving money, the rest of us are about having lot's of space for ourselves.
We don't really want to stay in the Lion King, our kids are so into cars......

Thanks

I think that you will be fine. You never know, maybe she is concerned about spending too much time together and this way they are able to get a bit more space from everyone else and spend some alone time with just their family. I say agree with her idea and roll with it. I am going with my sister in September, and while she is letting me plan the whole thing, we are going to take it day by day at the parks. We figure if they want to go their own way and meet back up for a meal, that's fine with us. It may be better not spending every last minute together. Hope your vacation goes well! Best of luck!:thumbsup2

It's only a walking distance away. Cars is at one end and LM is at the other end.. It's doable. I wouldn't worry about the distance too much. But if it's going to be a big problem, then you guys might want to move to LK area or you guys can help pay the difference from LM to Cars section so they can be in your section too. :)

You guys can just give each other a call to meet up at the food court/lobby/bus stop/pool to hang out together.

You should be fine since both buildings are well within walking distance to each other.

I think as long as you are at the same resort, you will be fine.

To me when it gets complicated if you want (and sometimes depending on the group you want to be as far away as often as possible lol) to swim and hang out together at your resort. Then being at different resorts defeats the purpose of travelling together.

I don't blame your sister, given the cost of those suites, I'd be in a LM room too!

I also can see why you want the Cars suites, the values are all about theming so you should be in the area that will give everyone there Disney fix!

I think it would be fine. I wouldn't want to pay for a suite with just a small daughter who will probably love the LM rooms.

I agree with the others. As long as you are all at the same resort, you'll be fine. You won't want to be with each other all the time, you'll want a little privacy. You can still travel together on the buses, swim in the pools, and enjoy meals together.

I agree - I think it will be fine. When I was thinking about trying to do a big group trip next year, I was going to suggest that we all stay in a different themed room just so we could see all of them :)

And a little space never hurt anybody. Went with my ILs a few years ago and we were in 3 rooms in a row, there were plenty of times that I was wishing we were on the other side of the resort, ha!

I haven't been to AoA but you are still in the same resort, so I think it will be just fine :) Have fun!

It will be fine as long as everyone keeps cell phones charged :)

I can see how it would be special for you and sister #2 to be in cars with boys ages 4 and 5. :car: In addition to savings it may be more special to her to stay mermaid area with her daughter? princess:

Sound like you will have to Roll with It attitude with this many ppl!:rotfl: I would also let her plan the Princess things for her DD and you older kids will want to do the "get away from Dad" things as well. I think it will be a very fun trip! ENJOY!:woohoo:

Um, when they're in the separate rooms, they can just use the room phones to call each other (saving battery power). When they're not in the rooms, they'll probably be together.

not necessarily.. we recently returned from a pop trip with DS, DDIL, and DGS. even though our rooms were next to each other, we were not joined at the hip, and often were separated.

the cell phones came in very handy.

the cars pool is very small. so I imagine the LM pool will be, also. sometimes you want just a quick dip and be near your room. but I think most often you all will want to meet up at "the big blue"

We stayed right next door to both my sisters and their families when we stayed at the POR, however, we never saw them at the resort, only met up with them at parks - so I think it's however you make it.

Do not rely on cell phones or wifi at AOA. We have AT&T so maybe others are different but reception inside the buildings was poor and the wifi wasn't reliable at all.

You can use the room phones and leave messages as well.

You will be 13 people so therefore, you qualify as a Grand Gathering. I would utilize that service as much as possible. I did a family trip of 10 and the help I received from the Grand Gathering people was wonderful. I had initially reserved pool room views for three rooms at Pop Century. Then my dad and stepmother joined the party and I needed a first floor room for my dad and his wheelchair. Well, there wasn't a first floor room with a pool view and I received a phone call from Disney about that. So I called back (I didn't know it was Disney calling!) and was able to get my mother-in-law moved to a standard view so at least she could be with my dad since my son and his family and my husband and I were staying longer. When I checked in, all four rooms were standard view, money was credited back to our account, and things were perfect for what we wanted and needed. They went above and beyond the call of duty, in my opinion.
