Family friendly Miami hotel with great pool!

Hi!
We are extending our cruise vacation by staying in Miami pre-cruise and hanging out at the pool/beach. Overwhelmed by the choices and the costs! Does anyone have a safe and family friendly hotel recommendation for me? We need a nice pool and maybe close to the beach and/or port? Looking for something on the nice side to kick-start the vacation off! Looking to stay under $400 a night, but having issues with that.

I can't help with pools as I don't really care about them, but...

If you want beach you need to look at Miami Beach - which will be pricier. Odds are that is where better pools would be, but I'm not sure.

The port is sort of between Miami and Miami Beach. (Yes, they are two different cities.)

We stayed at the Intercontinental and my daughter loved the pool and I enjoyed the pool deck overlooking Biscayne Bay. We splurged and booked the Bay view rooms and it was so worth it. I like the location being near the port and find Miami easy to get around with public transportation. We took the city bus to South Beach and it was quick and a direct bus.
