Hello!

My family has put me in charge to start getting ideas for prices for a potential Christmas Holiday vacation later this year :goodvibes

I've only ever traveled with me & Dh (and once with a friend) ... so I'm not too familiar with resorts that have enough sleeping areas.

I looked a bit on the official disney website, but it confuses me with Maximum number ... yet ... there is still room for another bed or has a couch :confused3

SO! Would anyone be able to recommend resorts in the Moderate to Deluxe to check out?

Fight now, the only one I know about is the Yacht/Beach Club.

• The People in the Room •

Me, DH, Mom, Dad, & Sister (16)

The cheaper the better (but not the cabins)! I think one room would be cheaper than two ...

OH! And if anyone has some advice when it would be the best to reserve the package, please let me know ^_^

If you're not wanting to get a Family suite at ASMusic, you can get a room at the Grand Floridian, Poly, Contemporary, Boardwalk Inn or Yacht Club/Beach Club that sleeps 5. You could do 2 Queen Beds and then the Day bed if you're all wanting to stay in the same room!

POR offers 2 queen beds and a trundle bed, but it's not recommended for children over 8, so too small for your sister! ;-)

I'd do one of those deluxe resorts!

I highly recommend getting two rooms. I couldn't imagine DH & I sharing a room with my parents & a 16yo girl. Everyone needs their privacy.

Two rooms at a moderate should not be that expensive, although keep in mind that Christmas is the busiest time of year, & also rather expensive. Many people rave about the Port Orleans resorts. There are two: French Quarter & Riverside.

You could also look into renting a reservation from a DVC Member (aka "renting points"). Then you could book a 2-bedroom villa. That would have 2 private bedrooms & a couch in the living room area. That could be an ideal set-up for your group.

Good luck & have a great trip!

Thank you very much! I'll be sure to check those out ^_^

We're a rather close family actually ^_^ Though, it does depend upon my father if he wants to increase the budget for 2 or not.

 How does one do that?! DH and I did the DVC tour thingie. We can't do it until DH is out of med school though, then we'd be able to afford it.

I vaguely remember something about renting the points though.

That is a really great tip, I'll do some research and see if that helps too!

Since you said, "the cheaper, the better" -- some DVC one-bedroom villas sleep 5 (and are considerably cheaper than 2 bedrooms) -- I believe the DVC villas at Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary and the villas at Animal Kingdom Lodge fall into this category. Keep in mind though that with one-bedroom villas, you get a king bed in a separate bedroom, plus a queen sofa bed and single sleeper in the living room. I have shared the queen sofa bed in a one-bedroom villa at Beach Club Villas -- an experience I hope never to repeat again -- very uncomfortable for 2 adults!

Also, if you rent points from a DVC member, I believe any one-bedroom DVC villa can sleep 5 (some kind of advantage given to DVC members and their guests).

As another poster suggested, you could consider a Family Suite at All Star Music. You have a queen bed in the bedroom, but, again, everyone else has to sleep on a convertable (double sofa bed and two single sleepers).

Since you don't mind sharing, if you're willing to spend more -- you could consider a deluxe room at BWI. That is a large room with a view of the Boardwalk and club level services. It has two queen beds plus a queen sofa sleeper -- meaning only one person needs to sleep on the sofa sleeper (a much more attractive proposition than two adults on it!). Also, with club level services, some people can go to the club level lounge for breakfast or snacks, while others use the room to get ready (then switch), which helps with the 5-in-one-room problem. This is also a deluxe room at the Beach Club, which is roomier than a regular room, sleeps 5 (two queen beds and a single day bed) and comes with club level services.

Have you considered Art of Animation - Family Suites? This might work for you. We're going there in August. They are taking reservations.
