I know this might seem a bit off topic, but I thought I might get a better response on this thread instead. I was wondering if any families had used airtran, and how the experiece was. We are thinking of using them, because of price, but there isn't a lot of input.

We will be using them next week. They have a very good reputation, and great prices/flight schedules for us. I needed to call customer service for my peanut allergy, and they were very helpful and accomodating (especially compared to Delta!). For the record, I was told that Airtran does not serve nuts (I mean provide nut snacks...I'm sure they serve "nuts", or some people would starve.:rotfl2: Bad joke over....).

There was a thread about this last week, with LOTS of good reports.

I've flown them a couple of time and have been very happy. I am flying them again in May and expect more of the same.

We've flown with them many times and have always been very happy. We just flew with them in January and will probably use them again in July. I like them better than SW because there is no "cattle call" boarding. We fly out of Philly and have never had any problems or complaints at all.

We've also flown with them several times and have had very positive experiences. They are my first choice of airline and usually have pretty decent fares.

We are using them for the second time and I was really happy with them the first time. Great prices, nice employees and easy to work with.

On our last trip in Dec, we flew down to MCO on SW and flew home on Airtran. Both had good service and I would fly either again.

The only difference I would say is that Airtran had an older plane with far less leg room. Really wasn't a huge deal to us, since we are vertically challenged people, but since we had just flown SW a few days before, we really noticed the difference.

We just got home a few days ago and flew airtran down and back. 3 kids ages 4,6,10. I loved them and we would fly with them again in a heartbeat! They have free XM satelite radio on board and hand out headphones (disposable) for it. My kids listened to radio disney the whole trip. They also gave a snack of pretzels and soft drinks, juices during the flight. Every flight (4 of them with layovers) we had was either on time or early to our destination. The only glitch I had was after originally booking our flight times, I checked back a month later and one had been changed to a much earlier time. I called airtran and they changed it to a later flight with no problems at all.

Hi! I'm in IL, too. We have flown Airtran out of Midway and Bloomington, IL. Both times were great experiences. On our way back to Bloomington from Orlando, we checked in early enough to catch their direct flight (instead of stopping in Atlanta) and they just switched us to that flight, even though it was significantly more expensive than our original flight.

Glad to hear everyone's opinion. I am a leary flyer anyway, so positive feedback really helps. After checking the SW schedule, we have decided to go with airtran....like there times, and I know for sure what the fare is....Don't have to wait until 2-8

Does airtran allow pre-boarding for famalies with small children? I was reading their website yesterday, and it didn't seem to clear on the topic. How small do the children have to be? We'll be flying with my BF's nieces, 3 and 4. They've never flown before, and I think it might make it alot easier on them (and us) if we could pre-board...
TIA!
