The Family Feud taping is on our "to-do list" in a couple of weeks. We can't wait to hear reports of those that attend.

This reminds me... one of my co-workers tried out and was supposed to be flown down there to be on the show, sometime in July or August. I never heard what came of that... I'll have to check with him tomorrow.

I saw that I'm going to be there on a taping day,how do you go about getting to see the taping.

He's waiting for the call. Apparently, they give families about two weeks' notice. All six of them (five players + alternate) need to be able to pretty-much turn on a dime, and be ready to jump on a plane with just that little bit of notice. Supposedly, some families have been waiting for the call for a year; not sure what the story is with that. :confused3

When entering the park, if it is a taping day (Fri, Sat, Sun), you can go over to your right, all the way over to the right there is a window for the Studio Audience Center, there you can get tickets for a show that day. The times are not announced in advance, but there are multiple shows a day. Once you get your tickets you can report to a gate next to Rip, Ride, Rockit. There somebody should escort you to the soundstages, after going through security, you will be brought into the soundstage. There isn't a lot of seating and there are no bathroom breaks, but it is a cool experience, and in between acts Steve Harvey is hilarious. It should be noted you must be 16 years of age or older, and there are additional rules you will be told after entering.

Thank you for this information. I didn't realize that you had to be 16 years of age or older. I guess we will mark this off our list. My 10-year old son LOVES game shows and this would have been fun!

We went today and it was a lot of fun! My one piece of advice is to make sure you block off a lot of time. Our line up time was 11:30 and we didn't get out until 3:30. They were running VERY behind today. We actually waited outside the studio doors for the first set of shows to end until around 1pm. People were hot and complaining! I felt bad for the poor people from the 2:15 lineup. When we got out at 3:30 they had already been waiting an hour and 15 minutes and it was productions lunch time so they weren't getting in any time soon!

All in all it was a lot of fun and I told DH we have to do it again before they stop taping. I love Steve Harvey as a stand up comic and at one point he had us in tears!

Oh yeah....and if a family wins 5 shows in a row they win a new car. The family in our first showing won the car. They were super fun and so excited!

My friend (mentioned above) heard back from Family Feud - they've been scheduled for a taping, on Sunday, August 8. If anyone is going to be there that day, they're "the Shoemakers".

Some interesting details. They film 8 episodes a day, but of course there is no way to know how many families will continue to win over and over again, up to five in a row (after which they'd need two new families instead of just one), so it is possible that they may have a couple of families there more than they'll need for the day. So they could get down to Orlando, spend the whole day there waiting to be on the show, and end up not making it onto the show. (They play a fake game early in the day that helps the producers decide which families to put on first, presumably based on enthusiasm, with the families that aren't up to snuff being the most likely to go home without getting on the show.)

They provide air transportation and Mears shuttle to the hotel, and the hotel, for the five players plus alternate. No credit for using a rental car instead or making other hotel arrangements.

The episode where my co-worker's family appears on Family Feud is on right now (3PM Eastern), in the Boston area.
