Family emergency - need to rent points!

We hoped to have an extended family trip to recoup from grandmother's passing, but DH's recent cancer diagnosis means we'll have to postpone until next year. However, the points used for ressie expire 1/31/05. Will rent the 262 points for $9/point. Points can be used at any DVC resort.

If someone can use the full ressie as it is now so all we have to do is change the name on it, we will rent for only $8/point in appreciation of an easy transaction. ("Easy" would be great right now!)

VWL 2 bd villa & 1 bd villa - Sunday 1/2 - Wed 1/5
VB Beach Cottage - Wed 1/5-Fri 1/7

anyway (unless of course you have rented all your points) could stick 160 points over in II for an exchange at a later time? you get 2 years with this option.

if you have 60 days before you points run out - and it has to be 60 days before not any later.

You can call ms and have them put your points that are about to expiry into the II exchange program.

then you have 2 years to use them.

You can't go to Orlando - but HH is very nice several wonderful Marriott. Hawaii - and other places.

160 points is the high season 1-bedroom.

generally II will let DVC trade up - to a 2-bedroom using 1-bedroom points. (not always so if you have to have a 2-bedroom use the points for a 2-bedroom). Besides lots of places don't have 2-bedrooms - most have 1-bedrooms some only have studios.

Once II has them you can't get them back. You have got 2years to use the points. if you want Hawaii it might take II 2 years to find it. but you don't have decide immeidately what you want.

I just looked at the rules - II gives you even more time.

And thank you too for the helpful advice to bank the points with II. I just got off the phone with MS and banked all of the points (I added 8 more points so that we now have 270 banked with II -- enough for a week in 2bd during high season.) The best part is we have until January 22, 2007 to use them -- everyone should be healthy by then. Thank you again for your help!
