We just returned from a trip last evening. My brother and his family (wife, three girls, 14, 11 9) joined us and were visiting MK Wed evening. My sister in law and 9 year old were on a ride and my brother had the other two girls just waiting around. My niece 11 is a SERIOUS pin trader. She is the most adorable sweet polite child EVER (sorry but everyone that meets her says the same thing, she is so genuinely sweet you can't help but fall in love with her, but enough bragging, they're all adorable)
Anyhoo, she had this "system" so that the rest of us (8 total) would all know when she was interested in trading, so she would not just walk away from us to "see" the pins on a CM. She would jokingly say "alert alert" and we'd know that someone had to walk over or behind her while she once again went to see the pins. Believe me, she did this ALL day and NIGHT.
SO, she apparently says ALERT ALERT and my brother falls behind her to keep an eye out. She walks up to a CM and says the same thing she said every single time, "Excuse me, may I please see your pins for a possible trade?" The CM said of course. He then asked her where she was from and who she was with. She said her dad and sister while she waited for her mom and other sister. He then said she was chosen and would you like a surprise and she of course said yes! (funny thing is their family did not even KNOW about the wishes until I told them all this "fun stuff" on the plane ride down.)
He then says wheres your dad and he walked over. They were told to meet at Astro Orbiter at 9:45. So what does the precious child do<<<<
She says OH PLEASE can my aunt come too because she LOVES Disney and knows everything (too funny and definitely not true but adorable none the less) He apparently asked how many in OUR party which was an additional three and he then used a headset to see if we could also be accommodated on their wish. They were told yes.
It was at that time (about 8:30 pm) that I got the screaming call from them via cell phone. We had literally just left MK by bus after having dinner at Ohana's and were not even back to resort yet. Well, believe it or not, I decided not to go back to the park because of a few reasons. One was I did not think I had enough time to make it back, then I did not really want to use a ticket (did not have hopper) to get in MK (we were at Epcot earlier that day) and I also did not want to "intrude" on their wish, it was our first trip WITH them and they were so excited. We knew it was something to do with fireworks but did not know anything else at that point.
So, I was told that they went to Astro Orbiter and met the same CM who said they were VIP's then took them up the elevator and they saw the fireworks show from up there and were given a Certificate in a folder. It happened that Tinker Bell did not fly that night as there was some glitch and the girls were disappointed because they had been told to "watch for Tink" several times by the CM. Then a no go...BUT they still loved the experience.
I tell you they were so excited and I was kinda kicking myself for not trying to make it back to the park but I had SO MANY wonderful times with the kids the whole week that were so special that I don't feel like I missed out! Now if it was a CASTLE stay I would have BEGGED to go, LOL
What a great trip all around, such fun but to hear these kids talk about this was just the BEST!
