I have gone through a few searches and compiled a list of recommended family affordable dining options. Here is what I have so far:
-Bubbalous BBQ
-4 Rivers Smokehouse
-Bob Evans-for breakfast
-Sweet Tomatoes
-Steak and Shake (which I have down as not actually a steak place but burgers)
-Millers Ale house
-Ginter Swirls (ice cream)
-Flippers Pizza

What am I missing? Any others you would suggest? We have five children aged 4-13, and often order family style and share rather than individual meals-though not opposed to that if the options are decent for kids meals.

There are many places in the area. But a comment about Sweet Tomatoes, other than the salad bar, it's hard to ruin a salad, the rest of the food and the behaviour of many of the dinners there is just awful. I would never ever eat there again or recommend that place, probably worse than Golden Corral. Theres something about those 2 places that the children just run wild, and the food is awful.

There is a Manny's Chop House ( $ 15 + PP & good specials ... kids eat cheap on Mondays )

On Hwy 192 going west towards Hwy 27 .
Try Cracker Barrel also on Hwy 192 about 8min drive from A.K.
Logan's & Texas steakhouse Longhorn Steakhouse

All on Hwy 192 going West towards Hwy 27

Ci Cis pizz is a good option. Google kids eat free Orlando. Most listed are Monday or Tuesday night.

Every chain restaurant in America is nearby. We like Chuy's Mexican, with giant portions you can share and great service. Also Giordanos for deep-dish pizza. For burgers, Fuddrucker's is close and good for kids with large portions.

The last time we went to Sweet Tomatoes we had a good experien

For a dirt-cheap buffet, Cici's Pizza is at the bottom of my list but will fill you up.

Thanks so much! We are not American so I am not always familiar with the fast food places, as some of them are regional. We have the big ones, but not some of the less common (like chick fil a)

Texas Roadhouse is terrific! Good food, reasonable prices, & fun atmosphere. Many of the area restaurants also offer "kids nights" where the children eat for free, definitely a nice money saver!

Golden Corral is very cheap and with the amount of people they cater, their all you can eat buffet food is fresh, there are many location around, if you prefer a better option visit The Knife is a all you can eat Argentina restaurant that serve all kind of grilled steaks and even fish with a great salad bar and each meal includes a WHOLE wine bottle per person, Argentinian wine! is around $30 per adult very good deal and is close to Disney Spring

Remember to check for coupons for sweet tomatoes... There always are some.
We also like Sonic.. Fast food though.

We like the Ichiban Buffet on 192 for lunch. Great, fresh sushi and all the other great Chinese food that we like. We stop there EVERY trip and have never been disappointed.

I have never done this, but I've read about it many times on Disboards. You can sign up for the Landry's Rewards and pay $25 and get a $25 credit and $25 your Birthday month. Sometimes you can also purchase discount Landry's gift cards. There are tons of Landry's owned restaurants around WDW including: Rainforest Cafe, T-Rex, Yak and Yeti and Bubba Gump.

Another vote for Ichiban, Sweet Tomatoes, and Golden Corral. We like to go to Golden Corral right before dinner time so we can get the dinner stuff for lunch prices. As long as you pay before 4 pm you pay lunch prices. Ichiban is the opposite. You pay when you leave and I think dinner starts at 3:30 pm. Careful with the crab legs they charge by the pound somehow. We've never got crablegs since they started that. Sweet Tomatoes you pay when you go in and can also get dinner for a lunch price. They don't change much for dinner though - mainly one or two soups and the warmed dessert.

The last time we went to Orlando we got in at 3:30 pm on a Wednesday and decided to throw our stuff in the condo and get to Golden Corral. We got there one minute before dinner prices and it was packed. It was a lot of retirement aged people and then I realized they were doing the same as us. By the time we left it was almost empty.
