Falmouth, Jamaica

I am looking at this excursion Falmouth Heritage Walking Tour.

My question is, is it worth the money or can we see the sites on our own.

It wont be on Disney but RCL. I know to me its cheating on Disney but I will be taking my Disney Cruise t shirts with me so I will have a part of Disney with me.

I wouldn't feel safe walking around Jamaica on my own.

We took a Disney tour that went to Good Hope plantation. I felt safe on that. We were on a bus going through town to the plantation. I've read about travelers being mugged there. It is a very poor area, and since most countries don't have welfare systems like America, there tends to be more theft. Especially around the port.

The port area in Falmouth is a fairly new purpose built (fake) cruise facility. Felt completely safe walking around that area (much more so than Ocho Rios), but I wouldn't venture out of the cruise facility on our own - definitely do a tour.

We were on the Fantasy last week, and stopped at Falmouth, Jamaica. We did not book a port adventure. We walked around the port facility for a little while, and it was nice, safe, and clean. We decided to venture out and attempt the walking tour, a map was provided by one of the information kiosks in the port facility. My wife and I are young (I'm 32 and she's 30). We made it about 1 block before we decided to go straight back to the ship. We did not feel safe at all. We were quickly surrounded by people forcefully trying to sell us things, and they would not take no for an answer. It is unfortunate, because we probably would have been interested in some of their souvenirs, but I didn't really get a chance to see them because they would not give me any space at all. We spent probably about 5-7 minutes outside the gates of the port before we turned around and went back in. It is obviously a very poor area, and I believe most of the people were just really wanting to make a sale (probably not trying to harm us), but the forcefulness of their tactics made us very uncomfortable.
