Falling into September Super Goofs Challenge

Been MIA this week. I am so tired, working extra hours because of free dining, so the last thing I want to do is work out at my normal 1am. No excuses but I'm just not motavated when I am tired and life is alittle overwhelming right now.

Anyways, a couple of updates...

Wednesday the 17th...45 mins mowing
30 mins bike...6.39 miles

Thursday the 18th...30 mins bike/6.10 miles

Tuesday the 23rd...117 mins walk...6.45 miles

Wednesday the 24th...45 mins bike/8.81 miles

I picked up my race packet for a local 5K today that is taking place Saturday morning. It's sponsered by Chick Fil A so there are chicken biscuits and sandwiches at the finish line! For those of you who don't have Chick Fil A in your area, its the only fast food I eat. Yum!!

My local running store in downtown Orlando called the Track Shack, who is also incharge of registration for Race for the Taste btw, had a board with Disney race percentages on it. I posted the Princess weekend info on another thread. The 1/2 is only at 37% full so far.

Sending hugs and happy thoughts to those who are under the weather, having knee problems, foot problems, back problems, etc.

Also, fall has arrived in central Florida. Today it was in the upper 80's instead of the low 90's and tonight we might get down into the upper 60's for the first time since April. I better turn on the heat! :)

Happy Thursday everyone!!

13:36/17:38 time
95.25/115.07 miles

Good morning my injured Goofs!! I am just reading through this keeping my fingers crossed that nothing happens to me too!!!!!

Mike: :wizard: for the doc appointment with your knee. I hope there is really nothing major wrong that a little rest and ice cannot cure.

Joanne: :wizard: for you too and I am actually glad to hear that it is "only" tendinitis. You know that is like "only" 3 miles.... Do you think you will be able to do the Applefest or are you just watchful waiting? I would not want it to hinder your chances at MCM. I am still dreading my first full...:scared:

Cecilia: :wizard: continued PD for the PF. I can feel when mine flares and just cringe at the thought of it!!!

Suzanne: Chik-Fil-A 5K hmmm, reminiscent of the Krispy Kreme challenge!! I hope you have fun and walk really fast so you don't have to worry about the calories at the end!!! :thumbsup2

Kim: The iPhone thing sounds really cool although I dislike running with my phone I have to say. It gives me a sense of security but the bouncing Blackberry in my pocket gets annoying beyond about 5 miles. I only take it on longer runs so I am always annoyed!!! Of course, I do tell my kids that they can GPS track my body as long as no one steals the phone too!!!

Everyone else: I am glad to see you all out there working hard for the team (and yourselves). So, what is everyone training for?

Me, I am training for the Applefest half and then ToT (not really training for that one) and then I am officially retired for the year 2008. :upsidedow While I am looking forward to both races, I am also looking forward to biking more and skiing when the snow flies. I am unsure if I am going to train for a spring race or not, that remains up in the air right now.

So LAST CHANCE WORKOUT DAY is tomorrow (ha you thought I was losing my mind totally). Get out there and make it count. I had a rest day yesterday but today I am back at it with a vengence. My goal is 30 miles this week and I just might make it with any luck at all!!! :goodvibes

Hi Goofs!

8.0 miles in 1:16:51 today. My foot is feeling MUCH better. Not 100% but definately getting better. I think I will be fine for Saturday's Race.

I am off to WDW tomorrow! Dh and I are so excited about this Expedition Everest Race. I hope everyone has a great weekend!

I hope Mike and Joanne have good news for me when I get back. Take care of those knees!

Cecilia

Tired tonight, and it showed. Two miles in 25:47. But at least I got it done. Looking forward to my rest day tomorrow!

Good morning Goofs. Last chance workout day has arrived. The October thread will begin tomorrow (or maybe Sunday, you know me) so this is it for September. I am hoping to get to the spreadsheet today and will update this weeks on Sunday. So get out there and fire off some miles!!!

Cecilia: Have fun at EE and let us know how you liked/disliked it. Here's hoping that it is better than the inagural ToT!!!

All injured: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: Take your recovery time and heal for October!!

As for me, I did my short run and hills yesterday. My shorter runs are getting faster. Now if my longer ones would just follow suit!! One more week to the Applefest and I am getting really excited now. I have not even really packed for ToT yet (okay maybe a little) due to the excitement of the half. I am usually totally packed by now for WDW. Yes, slightly anal (okay really anal) but we are cool enough here to pack the shorts and short-sleeve shirts already!! Today the hurricane passes through and we are due for rain, rain and more rain. Hoping to get my run in this morning since I am only working 2 hours!!!! :woohoo: An early start to the weekend with kidlets on a teacher's workshop day.

Later days Goofs and I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend (especially Cecilia cuz she is in the House of Mouse!!). :flower3:

Hi! I've been a slacker posting here :sad2: I have my miles/hours for this month, but I won't be able to post them until this weekend (I have a busy day ahead of me!) I just wanted to quickly check in here and wish all the injured goofs a speedy recovery :goodvibes

I'll be at Disney myself in a few hours for my birthday. Going to tea at the Garden View Lounge and then heading over to MNSSHP :woohoo:  I hope everyone else has a great weekend :flower3:

Happy Friday, everyone! Especially to all those heading to WDW this weekend. Hope you enjoy!

I did 3.2 in 32 yesterday--althought the time might be off. I was running on the treadmill at the gym and accidentally pulled the Stop cord off. Another bit of stretching made it a total of 45 minutes.

Today I did 30 min on the bike for 8.1 miles. Also 15 minutes of stretch.

Good luck to all the racers this weekend. Cecilia, would love to hear fow the EE race is.

nothing since then...DD was in the hospital for 5 days (ruptured appendix, emergency appendectomy) and I stayed with her, now the rest of the family (including me) have a crappy congested chest thing w/non stop coughing. Been a rough week or so, hopefully things will get back to normal soon!

day 3 of unplanned 4 day rest.

Knee is feeling better...lots of icing and stretching...going stir crazy though!

Keep working Super Goofs and have a wonderful weekend!

Mike

I got 1.5 miles and 28:30 in this morning. My nike plus said I went further, but when I checked the book I realized that I didn't calibrate it. I'll walk tonight and get more miles in while I calibrate it. I would have tried to go further but my PF was acting up. I need to stetch my feet more in the morning before a run I guess.

Good Friday evening goofs,

A tough we at work this week and next week too as my boss is down at WDW with her DH and another couple, celebrating their 25th anniversary. I am in chage whle she is gone.

I managed 3 miles tonight on the TM in 30 minutes; 50 minutes total exercise time.

Have a great weekened and the cooler fall weather in going to be coming soon, I am sure.

Lynn

Today was a cross training day for me so I did 30 min on the elliptical.

I went to Road Runner Sports before heading to the gym and got some new running sneakers!! I had a coupon for $20 so I had to get a new pair. Of course I couldn't leave without buying a new running outfit.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!! I probably won't check in till after my LR on Sunday, as we are babysitting my nieces and nephew tonight and tomorrow!

Angie- that's terrible! I hope you and your daughter are feeling better. NO fun.

For myself I could actually walk down the stairs today without partial weight bearing om the railing. I switched to Naprosyn 500 twice a day and it seems to be working well (not crazy about the black box warnings I discovered- scary stuff!) I am actually thinking about going to body flow and body pump today. There are some trainers at the gym so I will stop by and get their advise on best
plan for MCM.

I will have a PT eval on Monday (since I got the referral I may as well us it!)

Positive healing energy all around! We have been so lucky to be so injury free up to now!

Take care all!

Joanne

I am babysitting today for my two nieces and nephew, while my sister and BIL are at a wedding. The kids are 6,5 and 3 so my fiance and I have our hands full today! We were supposed to take them to their soccer games today, but all 3 got cancelled because of the bad weather here in NJ. I am a little disappointed, because I was excited to see them play. Since they are playing nicely right now, I figured I would catch up with everyone!

ksoehrlein--that application on your iphone sounds cool! I really want an iphone but just can't justify spending money on it right now..oh well!

Suzanne--WTG for getting those workouts in despite working long hours. I admire you for getting workouts in at 1am!!!! YIKES!!! Hope the 5k went well this morning, can't wait to hear the report!

Lisa--Good Luck in your upcoming races, don't worry too much about the race schedule for the spring. If you are anything like me, you won't sign up and then you will want to do a race and find one. Basically, that is what happened to me with the Goofy. I wasn't going to anymore races this year, but I just kept asking myself why I didn't sign up for the Goofy, so I did it.

Cecilia--Glad to hear the foot is feeling better! I am so jealous that your are in WDW right now!!!! Hope you have fun at the Expedition Everest race.

Adriana--Happy Birthday!! And what better way to spend it than at WDW!! I am so jealous!!

Angie--sorry to hear about your DD! Hope everyone is feeling better soon and everything is back to normal.

Mike-I know resting is hard, but it is best. Hang in there, and I am glad to hear it is feeling better.

mla---I love my Nike+...I used it all the time when I ran outside at the park, but I have been training on the TM at the gym lately so I haven't used it. I will probably use it again for my LR's.

Lynn--Sorry to hear about the tough week at work. Hang in there!

Joanne--That is good that you could walk down the stairs easier today. Don't push it too hard though as rest is the best thing. Hope the PT eval on monday goes well.

If I missed anyone, keep up the good work!!! Well, it is time to get back to babysitting!

ksoehrlein--that application on your iphone sounds cool! I really want an iphone but just can't justify spending money on it right now..oh well!
Well, Laurie, maybe you'll be "lucky" like I was and have your old iPod and your old phone die within the same week. I took it as a sign that since both would need to be replaced anyway, it was time for the iPhone!

Team in Training got together for a 6-miler today. We did it in 1 hour, 22 minutes. Again, I wanted to go just a wee bit faster, but I'm just too intimidated by the next pace group -- plus my current group is such a nice bunch of people and I don't want to leave them -- so I guess I'll just have to learn to be more patient!
