Falling into September Super Goofs Challenge

Thanks Lisa!

I'm going to keep a better log for myself. I was only able to get in 3.2 miles total this week. Stupid work keeps me there for too many hours. I should probably get more in tonight though. I'll post later to give you some more information.

Megan

Megan! :yay: for new teammates!

Lisa:

I allow my kids to have pets other than dogs, but I name them. The rabbits name was "Stu"....wait for it...and the fish's name was "Phil" (short for filet.)

Anywho, i put up 4.2 miles in 38 minutes...pretty fast for me...my poor training partner lol...your post got me fired up Lisa!

Lets Get SWEATY People!!!!!! :lmao:

Hi everyone!

I haven't been feeling very well lately but not really bad enough to go to the doctor. My stomach has been upset here and there and I just feel tired and sluggish. Maybe it's the change of the season. I don't know. I just haven't felt like exercising but I know I need to get out there and do more.

I do have 35 miles planned for tomorrow morning. I've been told that the ride will consist of major hills - not the rolling hills I've been doing. Yikes! My riding buddies knew that if left to me, I'd pick the flatest route possible. I hate hills but I guess they build character.

Lisa - sorry about your neighbor. I can't believe she called animal control. :sad2:

Megan - :welcome:

Here's some hours for me and Steve this week:

Tuesday, Sept 16:
Steve: 2 miles, 1 hour

Wednesday, Sept 17:

Steve: 20 miles, 1 hour, 15 min.

Thursday, Sept 18:
Steve: 3 miles, 45 min

Friday, Sept 19:
Susie: 2 miles, 30 minutes (bike & weights)

Hope you all have a great weekend!

I hate hills but I guess they build character.

What doesn't kill you can make you wish that it would.

I hate hills too. We have lots of cyclist out where we live and the roads are very windy and hilly. I will be thinking of you tomorrow!

Welcome new member, Megan!

Lisa- I live in a town that used to mostly farms. People now a days are complaining about the smell of cow/horse poop or the amount of noise chickens make. Sad we are loosing the rural character here. A local farmer has made up bumper stickers that say "eat your view". Do you want McMansions or apple orchards?
On the other hand your neighbor's intentions were good (I assume). Hopefully these concerns stop. Yikes! If you ever go on the blog FHOTD (one of my favorites) you get a sense of what happens when people do nothing. FHOTD stands for fugly horse of the day. You can google it.

H Goofs,

Welcome to our newest member.

Rest day for me today.

Have great weekend everyone.!

Nice going Mike!

4 miles yesterday in 50 minutes
60 minute body flow and 60 minute body pump today. My oldest daughter (GG#2) told me I was fat- just not as fat as others. Yeah- okay?

Maine Coast Half Marathon on tap for tomorrow (sans Lisa) It is supposed to be a spectacular day. Wish me luck!

Joanne

Hi Goofs!

The new shoes were a huge help.

I ran 8 miles in 1:14:05 today. The cooler weather had the trails packed but it was still just about as perfect a morning for a run as you can get weather wise.
I could feel my foot but it was pain just a little stiff. I had some heel pain after I finished but I think it can be managed with some extra stretching.

Good Luck tomorrow Groovy Girl!

Cecilia

4 miles this morning with TNT. 59:03, which was slower than I wanted, but I'm too slow for the other pace groups so I guess I can't complain!

Good morning Goofs.

Joanne, best of luck today. I will be thinking of you while I am working away. :surfweb: I am not sure what I was thinking volunteering working over today but such is life. I missed the race and a weekend on the Cape. DOY!!!

Thank you for all the thoughts on the animal control officer visit. I had pretty much come to terms and untweaked from it all...until I was coming home yesterday and this minivan was slowed to a crawl going up by the field and this woman was gawking down at the calf. I almost stopped and told her that if she didn't quit, she was going to get a visit from the State Police for harrassment. On a better note, the calf is up and doing better. Yesterday he almost looked like he was playing with the other calves which is an improvement. He is due for another shot Mon/Tues.

As for me, I had a bad gym experience. Being a good person does not always pay off in the end. I gave up the elliptical to a woman and her mother (60 and 80 yearsish respectively) and moved to the TM about halfway through my workout time and they used the machine for 5 minutes. Yes, 5 minutes. It was one of those moments you just want to shake your head and ask why they even bothered. :sad2: Why did you bother to ask me if you could use it and why did you bother to have me move to another machine?????:sad2: :sad2: Anyway, today is 12-18 miles and I am shooting for 12. I have never run this far before a half. Ten has been the max with other plans. I am trusting the chi here and putting in the time. The cough is nearly gone and I am feeling a little energy coming back so I think I am ready.

Have a great day Goofs and get those miles in!!!

Lisa - glad you are starting to feel better. I couldn't help but chuckle a little about the woman and her mother wanting to use the elliptical you were on and then only using it for five minutes. It kind of reminds me of people tying up machines by barely moving on them while reading a book. Now don't get me wrong, I can understand reading while exercising. I'm talking about those that read and barely move.

Joanne - sending virtual good thoughts your way this morning. :wizard: :cheer2:

I did my ride yesterday but it turned out to be 30 miles instead of 35. I did the hills and they were a challenge. Cecilia - the ride almost killed me but I beat the beast. :teeth: Glad that's over with. Besides this hills, the thing I didn't like was going down a long, winding hill at the end. You would think that would be fun but I don't like going so fast that I feel out of control....especially with curves and stop signs involved. I'm such a wimp!

Next week, 50 miles. However, not near as hilly. :thumbsup2

Saturday, Sept 21

Susie: 30 miles, 2.5 hours
Steve: 30 miles, 2.5 hours

Lisa Hope you rlong run went well. As for the mother /daughter, look at like this: you were enabling two older American to stay in shape. Maybe they just need to start slow. (Of course, if it was me, I would have been gritting my teeth and muttering this while glaring at them!!!)

Susie WTG on the bike ride. Are you training for a bike race? I must have missed that.

As for me...signed up at last minute to do a local 5k this morning--my first 5k. Goal was to finish under 30 minutes. Her'e the shorthand version of the race: Cool, overcast, mostly flat except for hill near end of race (Why, oh why?), no sense of pacing on my part, finished in 27:28. Say what--you must have timed someone faster than me! 2nd in my age group. All in all, a nice little mental boost and now I feel a little better about my upcoming 1/2 training.

Plus, yesterday 3 miles-50 Minutes walk with dog.

Maura

Just got back from the Maine Half Coast- What a beautiful course it was! I am so going to do this again next year. Hopefully Lisa will join me. Caught up with the delightful Erica. She is another WISH member on another team. We had a blast and it was good to have the support of a fellow WISHer. I picked up a new bondi band 'run like a mother' it says.
13.1 miles in 2:40 (unofficial time) I walked some of the last few miles because I left my knee cap somewhere. I hope it shows up soon- it really hurts. I am hoping that a day or two of rest will get it back but I am not so sure. Anyone good at knee issues? I don't think it's muscular- motrin 600 is not touching it. I am going for a hot shower then a hot tub. The extended family is coming up for apple picking the afternoon- fun, fun, fun!

12-18 miles? Do the 12:)

Great job on your races, Maura and Joanne. I hope your knee feels better soon.

I did about 2.6 miles this evening. My time was 29:24

Best of Monday mornings to you all Goofs!!

Joanne: So happy for you with the half. I am glad you could hook up with WISHers there too. Yes, it is on the short list for next year. It was either this one or the SportShoe half in Portland. Maybe I will let you make the call. I have to put in for time off in January so my list has to be pretty firm by that time. Sorry about the knee cap thing. I am not much help there either. Mine only hurts on hard downhills which I try to keep at a minimum.

Maura: Smokin pace. Not bad for someone who is not running....:lmao: Glad to year you are back in the saddle, or running shoes!!!

Kim: You are getting very consistent with your runs and times!

Susie: 50 miles??? :scared1:

Cecilia: Glad you like the new kicks. I love my Sauconys! I did run for the first time in an Asics Gel-Kinsei yesterday and they definitely passed the test too!

Mike: 13 miles at a 10:03 pace? You rock!!

Everyone else: I hope this is the start of a GREAT week for everyone!

As for me, well I struck out on my LR yesterday. I made it 11.4 miles before it started raining...:headache: Yes, I was supposed to go 12 but it ended at 11.4. Keep reminding me it is only .6 miles okay...:flower3: My time was not stellar but it was pretty consistent. I hit a stride and just let my body choose the pace. Overall 10:40 which for not pushing myself, I am very happy with. The route I took was very hilly which tends to slow me down a lot, especially when I am not telling myself that I HAVE to go faster!!! Today is a rest day for me (and my legs will thank me for that). DD13 has a field hockey game and then gymnastics for 3 hours following...:sad2: It will be an early night for me as I spent most of the night tossing and turning for no earthly reason.

Have a great day Goofs and make the most of this beautiful fall weather!!

Friday total:

45 min stretch

Sunday total:

Miles: 15 (13.1 race to double to 26.2) the extra 2 miles were
for the walk to and from the race

Time: 3:30 (added time for the walk)

Beth

Hi Goofs

45 minutes for 3.3 mile run outside.

It felt good in the nice fall weather.

Have a good Tuesday.

Maura - WTG on your first 5K! That is an awesome time!!!! Whew! I can only dream of being that fast. Yes, I'm training for a 50 miler next week. It's the Big Dam Bridge bike tour in Little Rock. We actually ride over a bridge designed for cyclists and pedestrians that crosses the Arkansas River. It's touted as the longest pedestrian bridge in the US. There are several distances for riders: 10, 14, 32, 50, 75 & 100 miles. I'm doing the 50-miler. I've never gone past 32 this season so I hope I can do it.

Joanne - congrats on your 1/2 marathon. You are speedy, too! Hope you found your kneecap! Ouch!

Here's some miles for me and Stevo:

Sunday, Sept. 21:
Susie: 5 miles, 45 minutes (recumbent bike, weights)
Steve: 3.25 miles, 45 minutes

Monday, Sept. 22:
Susie: 18 miles, 1.5 hours
Steve: 16 miles, 1 hour

Hi Super Goofs,

Totals since last time:
