Hi all! dh just figured out he has 4 weeks vacation left, he has to use them or lose them by Dec. 31, 2002.

We are taking 2 weeks vacation in July.

dd has a bunch of Sick Kids appt.s that dh comes to, so that's a couple, few days of vacation time he'll take.

I figure we can have a one week vacation in the Fall with a day or two left around Xmas.

I was thinking Myrtle Beach. Never been there and I think it's be warm in late Sept/early Oct. What do you think? What's the drive like from Toronto? THANKS! S

Sandra, we have driven down to MB many times. I really enjoy it there. I'll dig out all my info and give it to you on Saturday.

We love Myrtle beach we were there in March. You really can't beat the price, we went the first week of March and paid $125 for a deluxe room (w/microwave and fridge) for the week. We use to live in SC and I think late Sept/early Oct. would be nice the weather should be nice without being too hot and you will still be able to go into the ocean. The drive is not bad at all we usually stop one night, in march we stopped just outside of Washington then spent the day exploring the city. We still made it to MB by noon the next day. The shopping is great!!! Big outlet malls including a Disney outlet. Look up the Myrtle Beach chamber of commerce site you can order a vacation package that will give you lots of info. Feel free to email me with more questions.

Allison

Thanks Julie, I look forward to the info!

Allison, WOW $125 for a week or per night? My folks like MB! Still thinking about it. Planning and looking into thinks is half my fun! S

Hi Allison:

What type of temperature is it in March in mb? Also can you recommend a place to stay down there, we are thinking of a trip d h and I. Maybe next year. Thanks,

Deb.

Hi guys!Just found this in our city paper today.Request your free 352 page Stay and Play vacation guide, the most extensive vacation planning source for the entire MB area.Call 1-800-496-0359 ext.2345 or visit www.mbacvb.com Hope this may help.:)

Hi Deb, we have only gone to MB in the summer so far, but we stay at Ocean Creek Resort, which is on the border between North Myrtle Beach and Myrtle Beach. It's a large resort with a few different types of accomodations spread out over the spacious grounds.

It's not as busy as right in MB and I liked having Barefoot Landing (nice tourist shops and restaurants) right across the street, to wander over to in the evenings. You can check OC out at www.oceancreek.com

There are so many hotels, motels and condos there to chose from that I highly recommend sending for the MB "Stay and Play" vacation planner at www.myrtlebeachlive.com for a complete listing (pictures and rates). I haven't sent for one since '99, but I always thought it was a great "one stop" source and fun to look forward to in the mail.

Thanks for posting the phone number Kelly, I actually prefer to phone or write for the "Stay and Play".

All this talk about MB with Sandra today, I think I'm going to send for the 2002 issue! I miss receiving those big yellow Disney confirmation envelopes in the mail as I don't have a trip planned and I need something to look forward to! ;)

We went the first week in march and didn't have that great of weather. We hit a real cold system and it was cold all over that week even in Flordia, by the end of the week it was getting into the mid 60's and the day we were leaving it was going to be 80. We stayed at the Holiday INN (not the chain) it was a wonderful hotel big rooms, large pool area with a lazy river for the kids and free continental breakfast. There was a sister hotel with a bowling alley that we could use for free but we didn't make it this trip. Another hotel we really like is the Landmark, it has a huge pool area and it an enclosed hotel so you don't have to go outside to get to the pool, (which was a little chilly our first few days.) i would really recommend getting the Myrtle Beach information packet then looking at all the hotels to find the one that looks best to you. Remember the march break week is Cdn week and the hotel prices do go up a bit but alot of the stores and restaurants have Cdn money at par deals.

I absolutely love South Carolina it is always so hard for me to leave, i think it is a great vacation destination!!

Thanks Allison,

I have sent away for the book. I love s.c. too, when we drive thru to get to florida. Now the l25 was that at the holidan Inn you mentioned and was that an entertainment rate?

Bye,

Deb.

Great information from everyone!:)

DH and I have always wanted to go to Myrtle Beach too and I have neighbours that say it's better than Florida (although there is no WDW) and so much closer for us to drive. Hmmmm maybe we could all go down for a week together!! LOL;)

I picked up the Save and Play book at our local CAA a few weeks ago. It has some great information. Sorry that I can't help you out though. I've never been.

Sandy

Yes it was at that hotel and no that was just the rate for that time, I think becuase we were staying more then 5 days we got an extra 20% but I'm not sure. You will be surprised how inexpensive it is in off season. As long as the hotel has an indoor pool it is a great cheap vacation and the shopping is fabulous :). Hopefully you will get lucky and have nice weather, even though our weather was yucky we still found lots to do and we even made out to the beach a few days.
